JoBParticipantWe went for dinner on a slow night and the service was still slow…
we haven’t tried it yet for breakfast or lunch.
i am not boycotting them.. it’s just that there are so many other really great places to spend our dining dollar… so we do:)

flowerpetalMemberMy reasons for not going back to EJ’s: I’m a better cook; the restaurant was too noisy for across the table conversations; the service was poor; and there are too many good places to eat.

flipjackParticipantI’m grateful to EJ’s. Since eating there I decided to start cooking most of my meals at home and am healthier and save money.
Overpriced, not great food, mediocre service.

JeraldParticipantI’m another not-a-fan of Joe’s. We’ve eaten there several times and the food has either been unmemorable or memorably awful. Sometimes it was just the weird combinations, like some sort of sweet & sour entree with a side of blue cheese mashed potatoes. The BBQ sandwich was inedibly hot (spicy) and I’m not that hot-sensitive.
The tables are rickety and chairs uncomfortable.
I can’t figure out why they always appear crowded.

ToddinWestwoodMemberMary and I got a sitter one evening so we could try it out. We had heard thru the grapevine that E.J.’s had some good vegetarian dishes, or at least one of the other restaraunts in the family did.
When we were finally seated, they had NOTHING. zip, zilch. I eat meat, she doesnt. The waitress looked and acted as if we were from a different planet.
We left, walked over to the Mexican place on the corner only to really have the worst meal of out lives.
August 2, 2008 at 12:14 am #632822
JeraldParticipantWow, I guess that answers my next question…
Any other comments on that Mexican place (named..)? We had one pleasant meal outside last year, but after eating indoors once I had to have a coat drycleaned to get the greasy food smell out of it.
August 2, 2008 at 1:12 am #632823
ToddinWestwoodMemberI had a beef burrito plate. It was store bought tortillas, canned refried beans, and the “beef” was pan fried ground beef with store brand taco seasoning.
I could have made better at home. In fact, we were warned about this place and against the judgement of our friends, we went anyway.

JoBParticipantwhat a waste of a good babysitter..

elgregoMemberI’ll parrot Jiggers here. For the quality of food, Endolyne Joe’s is way overpriced. The food was mediocre at best and the service seriously lacking the three times I’ve gone. I’ve been for breakfast twice and lunch once – I go to the Chelan Cafe and Luna Park instead. Better food, better prices, much better service, even if it’s a little longer of a trip to get there.

michLMemberwe went to that mexican restaurant across the street from EJ’s – didn’t feel like waiting for a table at EJ’s that night – wish we would’ve waited b/c that food was TERRIBLE! usually figure mexican food is a pretty safe bet but they def proved us wrong – plus the blended drinks we had were terrible too. in re: to EJ’s, we’ve actually never been there for dinner – just breakfast and lunch – actually really like their breakfast food. the service was ok. but really, if you’re going to pay to sit down and be served at a restaurant and consider returning to the establishment, the food and service should be consistently great – and can’t say EJ’s is the first place that comes to mind amongst all the other great eating establishments in WS. but i do like their breakfast food – if i’m not counting calories that day ;)

KeithMemberChalk me into the EJ’s non-fan column, after trying dinner there several times. It’s not like it’s that bad, it’s just not that good. And it’s not overly expensive in the grand scheme of things, but the quality of the food is not worth the prices they’re charging. Service has always been friendly, but not so attentive.

IrukandjiParticipantEJs has NOTHING on Circa. Circa is consistently good, has seasonal menu changes rather than theme, and the ambiance is nice. If it’s too crowded for us, we get an order to go.
No reason to ever go back to EJs.
August 2, 2008 at 10:50 pm #632830
SueParticipantSee, now I had the worst service ever in Circa. Couldn’t get anyone to take my order, waited forever for it, couldn’t get a refill on my drink or a check when I was done. I got the steak salad since someone I knew raved about it and was shocked that it came with no bread or crackers or anything, especially at that price point, and I couldn’t even flag down a server to ask about it. Haven’t been back since.

jMemberWe eat at the mexican place down there all the time to avoid the junction. It’s decent food, but sometimes it is hit or miss. In my opinion, their food is better than Puerto Vallarta in the Junction. If you are looking for any run of the mill American Mexican food, it does the job. Just don’t go in their with high expectations for the best Mexican ever. Oh, and it’s beans are not from a can.
August 2, 2008 at 11:27 pm #632832
JenVMemberwe like Viva Mexico in White Center. Great food and service. we went to the place by EJ’s, and while it does have it’s points- outdoor seating, really good margaritas- the food was definitely nothing to write home about.
Regarding Puerto Vallarta in the junction-we went in for a snack and a drink during street fair- and my spinach quesadilla was made with processed cheese. blech!
August 2, 2008 at 11:39 pm #632833
JoBParticipantwe went to Puerto Vallarta in the junction once…
i was NOT impressed.
we have been meaning to try viva mexico for some time. maybe tonight:)
there’s always full tilt. did the sampler last time… almost better than a banana split:)

AnonymousInactiveI would never go back to Circa after our first and only visit.
We went for breakfast and they were out of orange juice. The waitress was rude and the food was totally forgettable.
Thanks, but no thanks.

MagpieParticipantI also wonder how Endolyne Joe’s can keep on getting the customers. I think early on they were novel enough and the food ok, but I never had great service, especially when we had a large group. The food was really heavy, too, not a lot on the menu for someone working on their weight or wanting to eat healthy. Again to a previous post about WS restaurants, not too long ago one of my co workers ate there and as she was biting in to her hamburger, there was a large piece of metal. She politely brought the wait person over and showed it to them. Then she saw them all huddling around the kitchen where they discovered that a piece of the grill brush had broken off and ended up as a part of her sandwich (it was on top of the hamburger, not in it)..now, normally, a restaurant would have comped the whole meal, not this one, they gave them dessert for free (had that been me, I would have not been satisfied, but it was their choice)..her experience cured me from ever going back there…she could have been seriously injured or worse. I think I’ll stick to Hawaii for my luaus.
August 3, 2008 at 10:46 pm #632836
TrisketParticipantNever had a problem at Circa. I eat there often as the food and service are great. Endolyne Joe’s was a huge disappointment and the biggest waste of my time, gas, money, stomach acid… etc. I will never go back to EJs.
August 4, 2008 at 5:20 am #632837
JanSParticipantjust had the marinated skirt steak at Circa on Friday evening…yummy in the tummy…and the waitress even said “Hey, hi, you’re back again”…guess I’ve been there a lot lately…hmmm.
I do have a story about really awful service when it first opened up…wrote to the owner..got a 35 buck gift certificate..and a few years later he told me that he carried my letter around with him for a year in his wallet to remind him that it was about the service, besides having good food.

JoBParticipantgreat service and great food at Stella’s pizza in georgetown…
Dale says the crust was cracker crisp.. and i can vouch for the toppings. soup wasn’t bad either:)
well worth a trip across the bridge.
August 4, 2008 at 6:28 am #632839
AnonymousInactiveJoB, they used to be Stella’s. The owner got sued by an Italian restaurant of same name and had to cease using it. She added an R, Stellars, which I still can’t say properly. And…even though she goes by Stella, her real name is Lisa, so figure that one out.
August 4, 2008 at 6:37 am #632840
JoBParticipantshe makes great pizza… and i never get names right anyway:(
btw.. saw you sitting on your porch on my way down to see David’s townhouse…
i neary stopped to ask you if you wanted to go with me…
you can thank me for not inflicting all those stairs on you:)
