Hey all, about once a month for the past three months we’ve heard a VERY loud, window rattling boom around 11:30pm on weekends. It seems to be coming from south of Holden but north of Roxbury. Maybe the Sealth construction site? Doesn’t sound like gunfire or car backfiring and definitely not fireworks. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Not within the boundries you describe, but I know for years the Steel Mill was known to emit the occasional boom. From water hitting the hot steel during a part of the processing, if I recall.

Seems though that I’ve heard that has pretty much come to an end after making the area where it occured, undercover.

A couple of years ago, for 3 months straight we would be awoken to the loudest and most terrifying boom. Called the Sheriff’s office (we’re s. of roxbury) and it turned out to be dynamite. Crazy huh? Don’t know how someone got a hold of it, but I know how scary it is to wake up at 3 am to the sound of it!

Yeah, I called the police the first time it happened and reported it as a gun shot, because that’s almost what it sounded like. But this time it was definitely closer and louder.

    DYNAMITE!?!?! Yikes!
