My little dog had a cancerous tumor removed, she is doing quite well. I know I may sound like a quack but I really feel like this tea is helping her. It takes awhile to brew and needs to be kept in a DARK GLASS bottle in the fridge.

I was pouring a new batch into my growler last night and it shattered. I am kind of sad it was quite beautiful.

Bsma, I’m glad the tea is helping? May I ask what you’re brewing? I love herbal remedies and natural healing, but then I do energy healing work, so it all kinda fits. :) In any event, I’m glad your little fur baby is doing better!

I don’t have any growlers to spare (my husband uses the one we have for beer), but I was just at Chaco Canyon and they were selling a growler with their logo on it – I think it was $20. I don’t know what growlers usually cost at the beer places, but you can also check at any bar and see what they’ll sell you one for. I know the one we have is from Elliott Bay Brew Pub.

Bsma, I don’t have a growler either, however I do have an empty dark green olive oil bottle that you are welcome to. Might not be as large as you are looking for – it holds 24 oz. My email can be found in my WSB profile.

    .

An alternate solution might be to find a large clear bottle, and then wrap it in tin foil and tape.

    .

As for a growler, you might try the Beer Junction here in WS, or possibly the Deli / Beer store at the corner of 35th and Barton.

    .

And remember, the fridge is completely DARK once you close the door :)

Maybe pour the brewed tea to a secondary container to cool, then pour into the growler. Normal growlers are just plain bottle glass and are not made for thermal shock.

The WS bowling alley has growlers for 6 bucks :)

Oh my goodness so much to read, I am feeling a little loved.

Sue, it is called Essiac tea (Caisse spelled backwards) named after a nurse Rene Cassie who used to brew it for cancer patients. I was introduces to it when my Spike was diagnosed with cancer. I wasn’t sure it made a difference, but when Bliss grew a huge angry tumor on her back and the vet thought it was too large to remove (and couldn’t do the surgery for a week) I brewed the tea and that tumor shrank. The vet got it all but not with good margins. I give Bliss the tea 3 times a day on an empty stomach sometimes plain sometimes with a tiny splash of homemade turkey stock. It takes just over 12 hours from start to finish (it has to rest). I feel like it is helping. I have no proof that it is.

Kevin thank you so much, I will take what I can get it makes 64 ounces at a time, but if smokeycretin9 has one (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU) I would love to take it. The bottle should be glass, no plastic and they just recommend dark colored because it is light sensitive but yeah I for the most part it is kept in the fridge. Also I would like to believe you about that light going out when the door is closed, but can we really be certain? ;) I still think my food is having parties in there.

JayDee, you’re absolutely right. I was just dumb about it I guess. I have been doing it that way since I got the bottle ( I am pretty sure I did it that way for Spikes tea too and I was just using several 16oz beer bottles for his. I thought I read somewhere they were made from tempered glass because when they fill them they add a couple shots of co2 to keep it fresh. But I really have no idea what I am talking about. I think I just assumed and no, I should not have been pouring hot tea into my beautiful growler. I will never do that again. Maybe it was from my canning days of youth. We poured boiling stuff into mason jars all the time, I just was not thinking… :(

Thank you Jan, that is good to know. I felt so bad for breaking your beautiful bottle. I just loved that lion on the front.

smokeycretin9 my email address is canine411@gmail.com. If your offer is still good, I can come by and pick it up anytime. Just let me know when and where! THANK YOU KINDLY!
