Everyday I have this impossible decision to make. Is the person in front of me going to turn on their blinker after the light turns green? Am I going to be able to go around them so I can continue south on 16th? Should I get along side them now and block traffic that may need to turn right onto Holden? What do I do? Will the person go straight and I’ll be forced to merge. And what about that bus stop? Forget all of it, I’ll stop taking 16th because it’s too stressful.

OR, the city could paint a left turn lane there and my stress would go way down.

Does anyone know how to motivate the city to do this?

    hey ingenuity

Are you are resident of Highland Park? If you are, perhaps you might be interested in attending the neighborhood group meetings. From what I’ve been told, neighborhood groups are good place to address such matters.

If you are interested, or anyone else interested in Highland Park concerns, the next meeting of the Highland Park Action Committee is June 23rd at 1116 Holden SW, which is about four blocks east of the light you are talking about.

However, if you are NOT a resident of that area, I don’t have a clue where you should start. But, I bet some one else reading here does.

    good luck

ingenuity, what I do at that particular intersection (actually, most intersections now that I think of it) is to wait behind the person who may or may not be turning left, but leave enough space between me and their bumper so that I can go around them if they decide last minute to turn and hold me up.

I am a resident of Highland Park. I’ll see if I can attend.
