PDieterParticipantWell the winds didn’t come soon or hard enough to blow all my leaves over to the neighbors yards so I raked up a bin full yesterday.
today the maple has already recoated the dooryard. I sure hope the storm has lots of wind with it this time.
Once a leaf is out of your yard it’s no longer your responsibility, right?

JenVMemberyou know, there was a gal on here last week looking for leaves for her compost bin. Win win!

JoBParticipantonly if you are sure they haven’t been sprayed.
having just moved into this house we really don’t know about the trees in our yard.. let alone the guy next door who uses a yard service.
i think that you are only responsible for the leaves in your yard since the same wind that blew yours next door blew those on the other side into your yard:)

GenHillOneParticipantThat’s so funny – every year we end up with some oak leaves in the mix and I have YET to find the tree from which they come!

MargLMemberThat’s nothing. We find bagels in our birdbath. Not sure where the crows are getting them from…

flipjackParticipantYeah the leaves that fall in your neighbors yard are his responsibility, but the branches that hang over his yard are too, so if he wants to have less mess he can chop the offending branches off the tree growing in your yard.

PDieterParticipantJen I missed the part where having to rake the leaves up is a “win” for me?
blow baby blow!!

beachdrivegirlParticipantWell you could always do what i saw a guy doing on 99N this morning and get a blower and blow them right into the street :) i would just recommend doing it @ night so your neighbors still talk to you the next day. :)

FranciParticipantWow, someones look for leaves?? I’ve got loads of them and my trees have NOT been sprayed. They are vine maple. If anyone wants some let me know – you rake, you haul.

miwsParticipantFranci, here’s a link to the thread that KatherineL started asking for bagged, unsprayed leaves.

IrukandjiParticipantI love this. If it’s not leaves, it’s fertile trees leaving their seed! I have a running joke with a neighbor of mine whose fertile birches LOVE to put babies in my yard. I had an attorney friend draw up paternity paperwork :).
On the other hand, my plant friend do their share to spread the love down the block as well.
I’d offer leaves, but they may be contaminated with the poop that our dog didn’t eat. Ack.

transplantellaParticipantWe are surrounded by big leaf maples which ‘belong’ to the property owners on the hill above. Beautiful trees…..
But the street and sidewalk below are thick with a carpet of these ginormous leaves and they’re a wet slippery hazard. I raked a block of sidewalk most of the way up the street today, because these higher altitude neighbors never consider us down here.
The elevated neighbors uphill own the low side of their properties, but never take care of them. Stinging nettle 6 feet tall, blackberry vines that took over the sidewalks, now a mat of wet leaves. They need to take care of their whole property, not just the part between the front door and their mailbox.
Down below, we’re overtaken by their untended invasive plants.
Ya hear me up there neighbors?!
