StringCheeseParticipantI’m looking to buy a new mattress and spent quite a while yesterday investigating all natural latex mattresses. They sound fantastic in theory. Does anyone here actually own one? Could you share your experiences?
I would love to go try one out but they are extremely difficult to find locally. The ones I have been able to locate are not all latex and are synthetic.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

SueParticipantI’ve been curious about them as well, so anxious to hear what others might have to say as I’m looking to replace my mattress soon too.
I looked briefly at a booth from Seattle Natural Mattress (http://seattlenaturalmattress.com) at the Green Festival if you’d like to take a look at their stuff. I have never done business with them, but do know they’re here in Seattle (around 41st/Aurora).

StringCheeseParticipantThank you Sue! They did not come up in my original search. I will definitely go check them out.
Still hoping to hear some first hand experiences. Anyone?

Swamp ThingMemberWe bought one from Soaring Heart (http://soaringheart.myshopify.com/) several years back and love it. It really helped with some back and hip problems I had before the purchase. They have a showroom where you can test a variety of styles out. We’ve gone back and purchased cotton futon mattresses for our kids from there.

IrukandjiParticipantWe also bought a mattress from Soaring Heart and we’ve been very happy with it. We chose it for our kid’s bed 4.5 years ago and it’s been GREAT. It’s more comfy than our mattress, and since we spend lots of time reading there and occasionally sleeping there, I don’t think we could have chosen a better product.

HunterGParticipantOh man, we had one and I was in love. Then my hubby discovered he was allergic to latex, and then…sadness.

ecomattressmanMemberFirst of all latex allergies are not associated with latex mattresses but rather condoms, gloves, balloons, etc. all of which are cold processed latex. Latex mattresses are heat processed which destroys the proteins that cause the allergic reaction. That being said, the debate about all natural vs. blended latex is pointless. Both are exceptional products with the blends being superior in both impression resistance and softening aspects. The point is there is no wrong choice but rather what works best for you and your lifestyle. The main things is that you get one that is all latex and not just a top layer over polyfoam which is what most companies are offering.
My latex bed is made with the blended talalay latex and an additional 3″ topper over the bed to provide me with the super cushion I need as a side sleeper. My bed is now 12 years old and show almost no sign of wear and tear and is on top of an adjustable bed base which causes even more wear than a normal bed. These guys are the experts in latex http://www.mattresses.net so ask them anything before buying. They ship to WA. all the time.

JayDeeParticipantI am interested as well. Ecomattressman sounds like a salestroll. I was shopping Bedrooms and More for a latex mattress and thought that type of mattress would help with issues from an L1 back injury. If anyone can chime in, I’d appreciate it too. I like my old Beautyrest, but the emphasis is on old.

metrognomeParticipantHunterG — don’t keep us in suspense … did you get rid of the hubby or the mattress?

JanSParticipantecomattressman….your screen name on here links you to the matresses.net website. Do you work for them? It’s OK to respond to someone else’s post on here if you’re a business. You don’t have to pretend, and call them “they” :)

Allergies? No foam. My allergist said no foam mattress, pads or pillows retains house dust. I must wash all bedding once a week. Must vaccuum furniture and apartment at least once a week. I have hypo allergenic mattress and pillow covers.
Maybe its not your mattress. I was tested 10 yrs ago or more because of constant sinus infections. If not tested, you have to illiminate one thing at a time to find source. You’d be surprised.

anotherwsmomParticipantTalalay foam mattresses are really nice…but I’ve only hopped on them in stores. I don’t own one. If allergies are a concern, a hypoallergenic, zipped cover should keep the dust out (along with mites, bed bugs, etc.).

Betty TMemberI know. I bought mine at Bed & Bath, about $70 bucks. I’m limited where I can shop because of getting there.
Good luck on your choice Hunter G.
