I am a new business owner and am looking to grow my team. I am the owner of Eaglen Design-Build (www.eaglendesignbuild.com) and I’m looking for a talented and reliable carpenter to join me on my upcoming projects!Location: Seattle-area (next project is in Covington so you must have reliable transportation)
Schedule: Project‑based (hours vary by project)
Compensation: Expect $30 – $45 an hour. To be discussed based on experience and contracting type (1099 independent contractor vs W2 part-time employee)About the Role:
We’re looking for a skilled carpenter to support a mix of rough and finish scopes on residential and/or light commercial projects. This is a hands-on, field role with flexible, project‑dependent hours, ideal for an experienced craftsperson who wants steady part‑time work without full‑time commitment.What You’ll Do:
Perform demolition and general clean-up
Execute rough carpentry: layout, framing, backing, blocking, sheathing, exterior trim.
Install and finish drywall
Perform finish carpentry: doors, windows, casework, base/trim, crown, wainscot, specialty details.
Read/interpret plans and details; verify layout, plumb/level/square; complete punch lists.
Protect finished surfaces; maintain a clean, safe, OSHA‑compliant jobsite.
Coordinate with the PM/Site Lead on sequencing, inspections, and material needs.
Track your time and basic material usage; flag conflicts, field conditions, and changes early.
Load/unload; stage materials; operate common jobsite tools and equipment safely.What you Bring:
3+ years professional carpentry experience (rough and/or finish); high‑quality workmanship.
Proficient with tape/layout, saws, routers, nailers, planers, and fastener systems.
Ability to read drawings and take direction on specs while working independently on tasks.
Reliable transportation to multiple jobsites in and around Seattle; current driver’s license.
Smartphone literacy for time tracking, photos, and basic app-based communication.
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolds, and work on your feet throughout the project.
If joining as 1099 independent contractor:
You bring your own business license, general liability insurance, and bond.
You bring your own toolsNice to Have:
OSHA‑10/30, First Aid/CPR; experience with residential remodels/occupied spaces.
Specialty skills (stair work, custom millwork installs, cabinet installs, exterior trim).
Electrical card/license.Tools, Safety & Support:
We provide major tools/equipment, ladders/scaffolds, and required PPE.
You provide a standard personal hand‑tool kit suitable for rough/finish tasks.Work Conditions:
Field-based with travel between jobsites; indoor/outdoor conditions; typical construction noise/dust.
Occasional evenings/weekends may be requested based on project milestones.How to Apply:
