Hi- not WS but was curious if anyone has ever been? What their thoughts were on the restaurant? My husband and I are considering heading over to Vashon this weekend and were looking for a nice dinner out.

I heard the Hardware Store is an excellent restaraunt on Vashon.

If you are familiar with the Sea Breeze guys/products from the Farmer’s Market, you’ll have a good idea of what you’re in store for. I’ve been once and had a great time. Reservations are an absolute must, as there is extremely limited seating. Not for vegans or animal-eating-averse. The people behind the plates are what made it for me, especially when our dinner turned into kind of a chatfest/dance party. If there was such a thing as “upscale funky,” it would be here.

The Hardware Store is your basic Americana, greasy and overpriced. You may wait a long time for service and it is very loud…I suggest looking elsewhere for your gourmet meal. I hear they make a giood martini at the “new” Back Bay Inn…I believe its called the “Q” after Quartermaster Harbor.

We had dinner there about a month ago and were VERY impressed. The service was helpful, but not intrusive, and the food was absolutely wonderful. They offer some unusual dishes and do them beautifully. Don’t let the menu scare you–although it is set up for a multiple course price fixe meal, each of the items can also be ordered individually…

beachdrivegirl – try The Corson Building down in Georgetown. AMAZING. Reservations required, and might be too late for Valentine’s Day if that’s what you were going for.
