WanakenaParticipantCan anyone recommend a cheap way to dispose of unwanted furniture? I have some long ikea pieces to a wardrobe (that don’t fit our trash compactor), an old, old loveseat, and a dresser hutch (which is in good condition if anyone wants it). I don’t have a vehicle or license so am unable to transport anywhere myself.

J242ParticipantI have used Busby Junk Removal three times in the past few years and they’ve always been fantastic! They charge based on how much space the items take up in the truck, not by weight or number of items and have fantastic prices. Very friendly local guys working on the crew too. :)

SunuvaParticipantThe free section on Craigslist has worked well for us with things like this before. You’d be surprised at what people will take off your hands for free. There’s lots of people out there who spend time refurbishing furniture or fixing broken appliances, etc. What we do is post the ad on Craigslist, then leave the item out front for easy pickings. Things will usually be gone in a couple hours.

BonnieParticipantI have a big sectional my darn cat peed all over and ruined it. (it was old, but still!) We moved it to storage but may have to call the junk removal place to get rid of it. Darn cat! Love him but he can be a pain in the rear sometimes.

WanakenaParticipantThanks for the suggestions. I decided to just break everything down that I could and re-purpose as much as possible. One more question if I may, I’ve tried my phillips, flat, and hex screwdrivers on the screws to the hutch but none of them work. Are there other types? The screw looks like the phillips should work but the middle part is nearly twice as big as the x part and they don’t look stripped.

935ParticipantWanakena – that’s a #3 phillips or, often times a #2 Roberts (square drive) will fit.
“Standard” phillips is a #2

WanakenaParticipantThe roberts worked perfectly, thanks

linda08ParticipantFor a reasonable fee we can pick up and haul just about anything, give us a call for an estimate and we’ll negociate!
