ssairdParticipantI have an 8th grade boy who needs to get ALL (12 hours) of his community Service Hours in before the middle of May. Does anybody have any suggestions on things their kids have done, or things that he could do in West Seattle?

IrukandjiParticipantRun a kids clothing drive for Westside Baby, and get their instructions for washing and sorting clothes?

catladyMemberMy son completed his 8th grade community hours by volunteering at the South Park food bank. They operate on Saturday mornings, when WS and White Center were only during the week. He crammed all his hours within a few weeks. I think he also spent a couple of hours picking up trash in our neighborhood park. But the food bank was the best experience – I volunteered with him and found it very rewarding.

linasenzerroseParticipantEnvironmental restoration projects in parks! I am a little biased (I am a Project Manager at EarthCorps). We work with many students needing service hours, families etc. all are welcome. Events are generally on Saturdays and are 4 hours long. We work in many WS parks and beyond. We incorporate lots of environmental education into our projects as well as lots of good productive and tangible service.
