yesterday was one of those days.

I bought some groceries and got a hundred dollar bill in change.. which i stuffed into the pocket in my purse where i keep my wallet. later that morning i bought some boxes at Staples.

when i went to empty the pockets in my purse where i have been stashing things the hundred dollar bill was gone.

I stopped by Staples later that afternoon on the off chance that someone had turned it in. someone had. The cashier noticed it on the counter when i left and when i didn’t return she turned it into her manager who put it in the office… and i was able to retrieve it.

My husband was astounded.. and i have to admit that i was more than pleasantly surprised.

A big thank you to the staff at Staples. you didn’t have to do that .. but you did ;-)

    Honesty like that is wonderful.

Back when I was a cashier at McLendon’s I had a customer, maybe a little younger than me, come through my line. His purchases came to just under $20.00. He handed me what registered in my mind as a $100.00 bill, so I gave him $80.00 and change in return.

There may have been a couple seconds pause, and he says; “Oh, man. I can’t do this to you. I only gave you a $20.00. I thought he was just joking, doing a reverse of that old scam where a “customer” will give a cashier a $10.00 bill, and after the till is closed claim that they paid with a $20.00 bill, so I just laughed at him. I then realized he was serious and checked under the till tray and there were no $100.00 bills under there, just a $20.00.

Needless to say, I thanked him profusely. I also replayed the whole part of when he gave me the money back in my head, and could *still* swear that he’s given me a $100.00 bill.
