SueParticipantA while back I saw an apt. for rent for around $750 at the SW corner of Hudson & Fauntleroy (2 blocks south of Alaska). I haven’t walked that way in a few weeks so not sure if it’s still available.
Edited to add: I glanced over while passing on the bus this morning, and the sign is still there. There is also a house for rent on the same side of Fauntleroy between Dawson & Hudson, but I have no idea what the rent is on that – probably more than you’re looking at though.

lazybeardParticipantfeefeelarue – Have your friend check out Redfin for housing forsale. They just launched a new feature that allows you to see how much houses closed for (sale record). It’s very handy to have that info for comparable.
There are also a couple of threads if you Bing-it regarding real estate agents and possible apartment agents too.

swimcatMemberI just recently put our house on the rental market but rent is higher than that since it is a 3 bedroom. My advice is to drive around and look for signs- that is how I always found a place. I’m sure you will be able to find a place for $700 if you can score the first month with free rent. Don’t be afraid to ask landlords for that!

SueParticipantCheck out craigslist too – I’m actually surprised how many listings are there for $700 or under for West Seattle right now. Probably incredibly small, but they do exist.
