GenHillOneParticipantPerhaps a less literal read is in order – I’d bet the bank that NO ONE involved in the example above was ever seriously going to cause damage to the car; merely venting frustration at the stupidity of it all (both the owner’s and the city’s). Me thinks you might take it with a grain of salt.

ZenguyParticipantI am just sad that Mrhineh knows he should have stated a new thread, yet did not.
December 19, 2008 at 6:23 pm #650706
JenVMemberin all seriousness: Happy Birthday (belated, now) CJB! Your photos are always wonderful, and I think you’re a superstar for hooking us all up with the bacon! Hope you had a nice, snowy birthday.

JoBParticipantMrhineh..
do you now how to start a new thread?
you go to the top of the forum page and click on the category you think your new thread belongs in…
then you click on new at the top of the page…
you can edit both your title and your post if you are not happy with them for a short time following your post.. i have never figured out how long…
even if you aren’t sure you have a intriguing topic.. it is worth a new thread. you never know with this crowd…
when you start a new thread. you have the opportunity to take the discussion to a theoretical level which often gets a much larger and more positive response…
I confess. we are all human here.. and when we have been talking with people for a while on a wide range of subjects… we tend to read their intent with the best possible reading rather than focus on their words…
In this case, i honestly believe that it never occurred to christopher that the human interest he added to his story would offend anyone…
but the broader question of when noting race.. or gender… detracts from the story you are telling is an interesting discussion that i am betting a large number of posters on the forum would be interested in pursuing.
if you didn’t post just to gripe.. a new thread is likely to start an interesting conversation.

IrukandjiParticipantHey CJB,
I hope the birthday was a good one. I had a dream that you got stomach flu and began taking pictures of people to whom the bug spread.
HPBDTY (belatedly) and Happy Holidays!

celeste17ParticipantIrukandji, what a visual image you just gave us! Happy birthday Chris enjoy some bacon!

mrhinehMemberGee Mr. Zen, you just can’t let it go can you? You are the one who wanted facts, not just random thoughts without something to back it up in the first place. Why didn’t YOU start the new thread. And I did offer to start a new thread, but alas, people just had to throw in their two cents, and you want to blame me. Along with JoB. So sorry to see your infatuation. Perhaps you also might see it in yourselves that not everyone knows everyone intimately here on WSB. Obviously, you all know Chris here and support him wildly, and probably for good reason. I have no argument with that. But at first glance, as you have made with me, assumptions are easy and cheap to come by.
Cheers to all!

CaitParticipantI just don’t see what the fuss is about regarding Zen and JoB’s posts. And in my opinion needless hostility calls for viewing of this lighthearted ditty.
December 20, 2008 at 7:24 am #650712
mrhinehMemberOf course not Cait. As GenHillOne tells us, calling out John Q Public on these blogs is just “frustration and venting.” But calling attention and questioning posters is “a fuss; rude; mean on a birthday thread; out of line; too literal, etc.” Is it that insulated a world on WSB?
Anyway, nuff said. I really wasn’t trying to toast Chris, more so here because this was where WSB editors decided to respond, rather than on the public forums.
And I forgot, Happy Birthday Christopher. I’m not really an old suss, even if what you read doesn’t represent my mantra (as told by others), you just have to get to know me.
Cheers!

JoBParticipantmrhineh..
i was just offering what i hoped was a useful suggestion.. and info you may not have had.
i think this forum is like any other place. if you are looking for an insult, you will find one…but that may not have been what the poster intended.
if we were out i would buy you a drink.. but as it is you will have to settle for a virtual nod…
December 20, 2008 at 7:34 am #650714
CaitParticipantMrH… but… we like old susses here too. :) I think I was biased because I didn’t see a problem with Christopher’s original post. *shrugs*. I call it an impasse. I welcome you to the blog and welcome your opinion. I’m sure there’s something we would agree on. I hate the stomach flu. Unless you love it I’m already feelin’ the love.
Don’t make me sing Kumbaya. I’ll do it. I already resorted to Hamster on a Piano. It’s not often I’ve gotta bust that one out.

inactiveMemberCait –
Oh, you TOO are a hoot…made me lol.
I’m not wanting to participate in this current brouhaha, but I just had to say that.
Ok. Maybe I’ll just say for the record, I’ve been deleted off the front AND miscategorized on the back, but the latter was a spam bucket thing. I took it VERY personally. There. That’s all I’m sayin’ here.
December 20, 2008 at 7:41 am #650716
mrhinehMemberWell, sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself and take the good with the bad.
Thanks to you both :)
December 20, 2008 at 7:48 am #650717
CaitParticipantYou’ll get used to that situation on the blog right quick. Jump in with both feet, share with us what you think and do yo thang. We’ll be lookin’ for ya :) I’ll be looking for your support on my upcoming “RANT – THE STOMACH FLU” thread.
December 20, 2008 at 10:05 am #650718
JanSParticipantCait,,,I will join you on that rant thread re:stomach flu, having just gotten over a nice long bout with it. Between the weather and the flu, I have been inside way too long, need someone to come over and hide the knives – lol….
December 20, 2008 at 10:16 am #650719
CaitParticipantLOL oh no JanS! You have so much [snow] to live for!
December 20, 2008 at 5:59 pm #650720
ZenguyParticipantMrH, your passive agressiveness is amusing. I especially like that you end most of your posts with cheers even though you do not mean it.
December 20, 2008 at 6:54 pm #650721
mrhinehMemberAnd I like how you complain about other people cluttering this thread, and you continue to do it yourself. Try peeing in your beer and getting a taste of your own medicine -g/ng-
December 20, 2008 at 7:39 pm #650722
cjboffoliParticipantC’mon y’all. My birthday is over. And Christmas is almost upon us. Maybe it is best to let this thread die.
For better or worse, this is what mrhineh has taught me:
1. That even on the Internet you should be extra careful about how you couch something.
2. That even if you’re absolutely well-meaning and careful you will ALWAYS still manage to offend someone.
3. That there are some really kind and loyal members of this community. Everyone’s warm birthday wishes and comments of support really touched me. I’ve worked hard to be a productive member of the West Seattle community and of the WSB and there is not always a lot of tangible affirmation for the effort. You can’t know how grateful I was for your supportive, thoughtful comments.
December 21, 2008 at 12:02 am #650723
Garden_nymphMemberYou’re a “good egg” Christopher Boffoli! I hope your birthday was delightful (cause the weather outside was frightful)!

December 21, 2008 at 12:51 am #650725
CaitParticipantIt’s a good one, eh? For an encore I recommend “Chimpanzee Riding on a Segway”
December 21, 2008 at 1:51 am #650726

December 21, 2008 at 1:53 am #650727
