eigenwijsMemberI have finally decided to take action on my life long dream of learning to play the guitar. Can anyone recommend someone in WS who gives lessons? (My dream also involves me doing screaming guitar solos on stage, so I guess I am not looking for a classical instructor. I’d like to start on acoustic, though.)

BernickiMemberI’ll tag along on this post. My eight-year-old daughter recently told me she wants to take guitar lessons, and I’d like to find a teacher in WS who works with kids.

addParticipantMy daughter (9 yrs old) took guitar lessons from Westside Music Academy last year – right off California on Dakota. http://www.westsidemusicacademy.com
Her teacher was very patient (I think his name was Matthew) and she enjoyed it – but she was not so great about practicing so we have taken a hiatus for a while!!

alkinetParticipantI am a recreational guitar player, and have been taking lessons weekly for the past 5 years from Michael Crouse, who teaches out of his home (he has a studio in his basement). Both of my daughters (8 and 10) have taken guitar and voice from him. He is very patient, and a wonderful teacher. He can be reached at 206-937-5884. Tell him Jonathan sent you!

JillParticipantAnother amazing and generous teacher is Kevin Callahan, whose studio is just north of Morgan Jct. http://kevincallahan.org/teaching.html He teaches various styles, as well as general music theory and ear training, and he’s great with kids as well as adults.
