Anyone recommend restaurants in WS that do good gluten free?

Elliott bay has great gluten free hamburger buns. Maono has gluten free fried chicken, but you have to preorder/make a reservation.

Breezy thanks for the link. Anyone taste any of these? as so far in Seattle i have not found any good pizza or breadp-type foods at restaurants. I have had some fantastic sandwiches at restaurants in LA, but so far here, its been worse than styropfoam.

Fresh Bistro is great and always has a substantial gluten free menu.

Maono has a good gluten free selection as well, and their gf fried chicken is amazing (but it has to be ordered in advance).

Westcity kitchen usually has some good gf options as well.

For pizza, I don’t know of any sit-down restaurants but red star and dominoes both have gluten free crusts and deliver.

I haven’t tried it myself, but a friend who can’t eat gluten (celiac) swears by Olympia Pizza. Their WS location is on Delridge.

Bison Creek Pizza in Burien has fantastic GF pizza. Chaco Canyon has delicious GF/vegan french toast. And we recently had delicious burgers with GF buns at Zippy’s (best burgers in WS!)

Proletariat has GF pizza and I see Zippy’s has GF buns.

Part of your question should be if its a health issue (do you have Celiac?) or lifestyle choice. The prep conditions then are either critical or not. Also, what flavor? Talarico’s serves gluten free pizza free of cross contamination because the pizza crust is stored and prepped in its own pan and never touches the counter (important for celiac’s). Red Star has GF crust but bakes it in the same oven as their other pizza’s so it is exposed to wheat. Bang Bar has gluten free soys and cooks their GF meals separately. Cactus has some GF choices. Angelina’s has GF pasta (Manini’s). We have celiac in the family so preparation is critical for avoiding cross contamination. I would be reluctant to eat at EBay or Zippy’s unless I know they don’t cross contaminate (depends on your risk or health level). Ebay has told us they don’t separate their buns from contacting surfaces exposed to wheat. Pecado Bueno has worked with us to keep their choices from being exposed (thanks Rafael!) You could check Great Harvest since they sell and bake GF breads. hth.

Last week went to Pizzaria Credo with three gluten free friends. They were able to eat several items off the non-pizza menu (great salads and the polenta). They all thought the gluten free crust was superior to what they’ve had recently. It was notable that the chef came out to talk about the GF menu with them…he’s interested in offering GF items for those who love italian food. The regular pizza was very good too!

Doesn’t Chaco Canyon have a good GF selection as well?

Fatburger on Alki Beach has Oodie’s GF buns, and their “Fat” Style steak fries are gluten free too. Plus there are several salad options as well. Full disclosure, I serve there, but in my slightly biased opinion I think they’re pretty yummy!

madisong, are the onion rings GF @Fatburger? Do they use a separate fryer for rings vs. fries? These would be important clarifications between gluten free and gluten free ingredients. They are not the same thing because of cross contamination. More and more restaurants are keeping their products separate to be truly “Gluten Free”, Red Robin for one.

Zaw has gluten and dairy free pizza!! As much as that makes it sound less “pizza” like, it is amazing!

IWonder, I know that the “fat” fries are fried in separate oil to keep them truly gluten free! I am not sure about the onion rings–last time I checked, they were fried in the same oil as non-GF items, but they may have changed their ways in their recent push toward having more gluten free options! I’ll try to update if I can get some more concrete info from our kitchen :)
