charlabobParticipantAre the “calendars” for what can/should be done in the garden based on the actual month/time or on the current weather? For example, even I know it’s woefully late to start flower seeds inside and transplant them — but do I get a slight break becaues spring/summer are still nowhere in sight? I’m hoping starting them later just means they’ll bloom later.
I just (finally) planted three tomato plants — the tomatoes may be covered with snow by the time they show up — life is an adventure.

ShibaguyzMemberWe’re still going by the Northwest Maritime Guide for planting. However, we are taking advantage of the cooler weather to prolong our lettuce and spinach.
We have nearly 20 tomatoe is in and most have blooms on them at this point… we’ll see how it goes!!

WSMomParticipantMy cucumber seedlings are definitely looking very ill and some of my tomatoes flopped over from the wind storm. I do have one little tomato on one plant beating the odds and giving me hope. Yes, my spinach and lettuce are going crazy!!!
Come on sun!! We need you!!!

herongrrrlParticipantI’m taking a chance and planted a lot of stuff later this year. I haven’t planted my corn yet, even, but I have a short-season variety so I’m going to plant with optimism sometime within the next couple weeks.
My tomatoes look pathetic, but yes, this weather has been very nice for the chard, lettuces and spinach! And my fava beans are almost ready to harvest, too.
