Sunrise will be at 7:42am today. Dunno when “first light” is, but I am guessing maybe 1/2 hour before sunrise.

Unless someone says otherwise convincingly, I intend to warm up the nectar to 98 – 100 degrees Fahrenheit in a pot before offering it in the feeder. I have read that microwaving changes molecular structure. Dunno about that, but I am not willing to risk it.

I think Anna’s Hummingbirds must be relatively robust compared to other hummingbirds, so do not despair. Thaw out or replace the nectar as quickly as you can to give them a better chance.

    Scott…

    i jsut picked up feeders…

should i be putting them out now? i know there are hummingbirds in the area because they visited my plants until they died back…

or should i wait for spring and flowers?

and.. do you know if there are any flowers of any kind that we can put out now that are good for hummingbirds?
