    Hi all-

Its been a while since we have had a get together and I was wondering if its time to do another one? Should we try to do a weekend brunch? Or should we do a picnic somewhere? What does everyone think?

Or perhaps at one of the Concerts in the Park at Hiawatha Park this summer. No alcohol in city parks, but also no cover charge.

Gina…you can bring a big pot of cioppino – lol…

the Hiawatha concerts don’t start until sometime in July, I think. We may be looking for more instant gratification than that…

    Only one month until July.

Blink twice and it will be here!

hehehe…and let’s hope the sun shines some of that time, or we’ll really need that cioppino ;-)

The only problem with the concerts in the park is that it makes it harder to chat and get to know people. We had a forum meetup once at C&P during a music performance, and it was difficult to chat and felt disrespectful to ignore the performers anyway.

Sue brings up a good point. The venue should be somewhere that does not have a lot of background noise.

Here’s an option…since the house I’m renting with a couple other roommates is up for sale and we’re going to be moving soon, I’d been thinking about having a house party there before we go. I’d be happy to host a WSB gathering there. It’s right across the street from the open park that’s between Olga, Admiral and 37th so you have an option of hanging out inside or outside (with a great view of downtown). Sunday’s are best for me.

    What say you?

This sounds like a very generous offer. Perhaps an afternoon Sunday potluck?

Having it at a house that’s for sale, while the last renters are leaving, wow that sounds like a hell of a lot of fun if you ask me.

    lazybeard…

i held a shower with an open WSB forum invitation at a house i rented just before i moved out and it turned out very well.

A gathering of friends doesn’t have to be an invitation to trash anyone’s property.. it can be a last chance to share your home and your view with friends.

At least, that’s what the last WSB gathering held at a house as the renters were moving out.. the one held at my house… was…

    JoB..

That’s cool. It’s been an incredibly long time since I attended a mildly large function like this and it always ended in disaster (i.e. filthy house), but as folks get wiser and more respectful, there becomes no aftermath in such a gathering (please don’t think I’m saying that this would be a disastrous occasion because I’m not).

These kinds of events are fun because you can finally put names to faces and have a jolly good o’ time.

me thinks Jen was kidding about quiet conversation at FL ;)

knight, fun idea, I’m sure everyone would behave – put flyers out and call it an open house!

p.s. – OT, but were you ever able to find a new place in WS?

    In2theknight,

    .

If your offer is still good, I would 2nd GenHillOne’s motion.

    .

You are providing the venue, so all we need is a list of what folks should bring.

    lazybeard…

it’s been a long time since i attended a college toga style kegger as well…

there is something about people arriving carrying their pot luck offerings that mellows things right out… even political talk is more civilized over a shared meal ;->

due to medication sensitivities.. i can’t indulge in.. chocolate… but i am sure there is more than one sweet tooth out there who couldn’t resist:)

A lot of trust is involved in the act of attending a pot luck… and i can’t think of a group of people i would trust more.

We had a great time at the last forum get together at JoB’s house. The only sad thing was that Jo couldn’t be there with us that day as she was actually moving.

Into the night which weekend would be best for you to have us all invade?
