    Job Summary: As a key member of our Product & Merchandising Group (PMG), the Food & Beverage Specialist supports our companywide Food & Beverage Departments, including Prepared Foods, Specialty Cheese, Food Service Production, Bakery, and Coffee Shop Departments. The Food & Beverage Specialist is responsible for product/program education and quality standards of the Food & Beverage Departments. This position works with the Food & Beverage Director, Prepared Foods & Cheese Coordinator, and Bakery & Coffee Category Manager in supporting product and program integrity. This role provides ongoing in-store education, with an emphasis on product knowledge, technical solutions, shrink tracking, practical kitchen skills, food safety & sanitation, production methods, product yields, and proper use of equipment. This position also directs visual merchandising and display standards; supports department standards, recipe/spec compliance, portion control, quality control, resets, schematics, and works directly with the companywide Food & Beverage Departments’ leaders to ensure successful program support on a daily basis.

    Specific Job Duties:
    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • In partnership with other members of our PMG focusing in the areas of food and beverage, maintains proprietary and branded products and programs.
    • Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Director, and in partnership with other PMG members focusing in areas of food and beverage, creates and implements product/program education and quality control materials. Ensures product/program quality standards and accuracy between store locations.
    • Effectively leads and coordinates the various product/program education and quality standards of the companywide Food & Beverage Departments’ management teams within our stores; also provides guidance and support within the Food & Beverage categories.
    • Provides leadership for companywide Food & Beverage Departments’ team members, including product training, motivation, communication, and sharing of the Company vision.
    • Works with the Store Director Team and PMG members focusing in areas of food and beverage as needed, to help address employee performance issues (e.g., provides the Store Director Team with relative information so the Store Director may follow-up with the team member).
    • Participates in regular companywide Food & Beverage Departments’ management meetings that include information on new item selection and program presentations, latest trends, current sales/gross targets and achievements, upcoming resets, remodels and holiday planning, and priorities for the companywide Food & Beverage Departments.

    Skills Required / Qualifications:
    Candidates will be selected from applicants having the best combination of the following qualifications:
    • A minimum two years multi-unit supervisory experience in a food and beverage retail environment required.
    • Experience delivering technical solutions for food and beverage for automated ordering, production planning, scheduling and/or sales and margin optimization, recipe costing.
    • Intermediate level Excel preferred, experience with Smartsheet and Slack desired.
    • Project management experience including training program creation and oversight.
    • Associates degree or equivalent in culinary arts from a recognized institution strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrates a strong knowledge and understanding of Food & Beverage Department requirements, including ingredients, applications, pronunciations, and culinary skills.
    • Must have an infectious passion for great tasting, high quality food and a proven ability to engage and create excitement with team members.
    • Able to create, develop, and execute product education for team members within budget provisions.
    • Exceptional customer service skills.
    • Proven ability to positively affect sales, and manage profit and loss.
    • Superior oral and written communication skills.
    • Proven ability to effectively delegate and follow-through in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrates a high-level of self-motivation; takes initiative and successfully problem solves.
    • The ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output while working within deadlines is a must; sense of urgency required.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • A proven ability to interact and perform all job responsibilities with professionalism and confidentiality is essential.
