and what constitutes a legal vote?
one registered with the republican party?
Or do you advocate we do a Florida style purge on our voting rolls here…
purging anyone we suspect for any reason might possibly not be legal because their name is almost spelled the same a convicted felon somewhere
or because they don’t own the property they live in so their residence is not verified through property tax rolls?
Or perhaps we should just deny citizenship to anyone who can’t trace an ancestor back to the 13 colonies….
Or to anyone who can’t prove their ancestors immigrated to the US legally.
I know i would would still be legal thanks to my mother’s family….
but would you?
As for all those supposedly illegal votes.. looking for them didn’t work out so well for Coleman in Minnesota…

anyone listening to FOX news would fail.. :(
they would be completely unable to give an accurate answer as to the content of recent legislation.

Simply put if you meet the legal requirements to register to vote you should be allowed to.
It might astound you but I have been known to vote for a Dem a time or two

please forgive my rant if undeserved…
but i had this very conversation not that long ago with family members in Arizona who were incensed when i pointed out that their ancestors were as likely illegal immigrants as not.
I am pretty sure my greatgrandad and grandfather on my dad’s side were illegal.. of course grandad was a babe in arms at the time :) but they don’t seem to have left a paper trail coming into the country.
No papers = illegal :(
On my mom’s side we can trace back to one of the original 13.. a real hero of a guy who married the indentured servant when his first wife died.
The point is that all this fuss about illegal votes is one big smoke screen.
Illegals don’t register to vote. they don’t want to be that visible.. for some strange reason they fear being scooped up in the middle of the night by immigration and shipped back to the country their parents came from.
and that one might be a reasonable fear. we are doing that to kids who were raised in America and have graduated from our schools.
Much ado is made of illegal voting but actual voter fraud is rare.
call me naive.. but i am going to assume that if a voter is legally registered.. their vote is legal. In this state.. your ballot goes directly to your house… really diminishing the opportunity for fraud.
Now if only we could have checked those diebold voting machines in Iowa with propriotory programming and no paper trail ;->
that is where the real fraud is likely to occur.
That.. and in the overzealous purging of voter rolls which is institutionalized voter fraud…
but hey.. let’s make sure those votes are legal.
You are right about one thing though.. i would be surprised to know you have voted for democrats.
Would that be in this century?

Update–the urban legend indicates “crack dealer nearby”. People just have to corrupt every tradition, don’t they :-)
