Loud knock on the front door…early 20’s African-American woman dressed in a dark tee and jeans standing on the porch. Asked her (through the window) what she wanted – and she said something about washing our windows. Told her we weren’t interested. She waved some sort of pamphlet. But did walk away quietly and quickly. Did not leave the pamphlet. Noticed her carrying a spray bottle (with something blue in it), some sort of cloth, and had a backpack. On foot. No car in sight. No uniform, and no badge. Odd.

Around 2:30 at the corner of Juneau and 39th, there was a young African American man, just standing at the corner looking around, with a rag and spray bottle and I wondered if he was going to approach people to wash their car windows…sad we have to be suspicious but I am glad we can help keep an eye on each other in our neighborhoods.

now, seriously, how many windows can they possible do with a rag and a spray bottle? They’re just trying to get you to open the door, because they want to sell you something, probably what’s in the bottle. Stuff like that has been around for as long as I can remember (door to door sales of a “miracle” cleaning liquid, usually cheap ingredients). Just don’t open the door to them. It’s more of a scam than anything.

or maybe they are trying to get a look inside your house to see if you have any valuables so they can comeback later and rob you. I’d answer the door with my pitbull.

These sound like the same folks who were here in Hansen View/Fairmount today & were working the neighborhood just south of Morgan a few days before that. If so, they are selling a concentrated cleaning solution; the spray bottle is so that they demo the product & show you how amazing it is.

    .

They have ID badges on lanyards & seem to be following the rules for door-to-door solicitors. Very polite.

The one that I spoke to said he was from Louisana. Got the impression that the entire group might be from there. I noticed 4 of them when I was out walking.

I personally hate door-to-door soliticing…but these folks seemed legit in my opinion.
