JenVMemberI feel like stabbing someone every time I go to Costco.

LucianMemberOk ok Mav, you win..
So you’ve got the right to shoot and kill an unarmed man. Hope that little fantasy works out for you.
Reminds me of ‘Observe & Report’.

perseoMemberBoy, this whole thing seems very contrived. Sorry Mav I ain’t buying half of what you wrote and the fact that you’ve written the same rant on multiple websites makes me even more suspicious. It reads like some paranoid fantasy, but if it really did happen, then you should be thankfull that you weren’t hurt and that you didn’t hurt anybody else.

WSMomParticipantJenV: “I feel like stabbing someone every time I go to Costco.”
You crack me up! I’ve been reading your posts for a couple of years now and I hope you keep a journal! If you ever go into stand-up or write a book or a blog, I would be first in line to support you!!
I know, I’m totally off topic here, sorry.

mav0414ParticipantI rec’d a call from Costco Corporate today about the assault. The person is from Risk Management and indeed Costco considers this incident a serious matter.
There are indeed concerned about what happens to their members (customers)aside from the typical car breakins, shopping cart dents etc etc. And even those too.
thank you Costco Risk Manager for taking the investigation up the line. It sure makes me feel better as a long time member of the original Seattle location.

JoBParticipantthanks for posting that..

jschuMemberI was assaulted by the lack of electronic items and imported cheese. Next stop Midway swap meet for my wares.

JanSParticipantwell, now that this seems to be on the right path, maybe this can be a lesson learned , especially for guys (it’s something that women driving alone already know): LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS !!!
November 21, 2009 at 9:20 pm #682395
JoBParticipantor.. how about…
there is a reason that we are required to contact the business before ranting…
this would have been an entirely different post had the OP waited to hear back from them.
November 21, 2009 at 10:01 pm #682396
sam-cParticipantOh, I don’t know about that, I think the OP would have unleashed his verbal vengeance for the assailant regardless of what Costco had to say.
November 21, 2009 at 10:34 pm #682397
JanSParticipantsam-c, what’s nice about that is, if the OP had had his doors locked…verbal assaults are just that…verbal. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words, etc. etc. :)

DOCMemberMav0414, I’m going to be honest, but this almost sounds more like a boasting story than a “scared for my life” story. I am not denying that this happeded, it’s just the language you used seems to make the story a little… embellished. Stating, “I never show him the 6″ SOG blade in my hand, still hidden behind my center console” really seems like it is straight out of a book. Even naming the brand?
Why would you want to blame Costco for this? If you are saying you are scared to death of a Giant of a man, what makes you think that a Costco employee still in High School is going to want to intervene?
Also, how did you have so much time to witness everyone else flee the scene or know that no one called 911 or security? Frankly my eyes would be on him, or the knife I was holding, or the rifle I was looking at, or his wife, etc. I am guessing this incident lasted less than a minute.
Then the talking in the third person in one of the comments is just weird.
I am sorry that this happened to you but it is not Costo’s fault. I’m sure they could install all the security camera’s and hire all the guards that you want, but this assault still would have happened. And don’t threaten someone’s life at the beginning of a fight, it just makes it worse. Just shoot them unexpectidly to save your own if the need comes.
Long story short, SUCK IT UP CUPCAKE.

perseoMemberYou know DOC I had the same reaction. It all seems made up or at the very least embellished for effect.
My favorite line:
I still don’t know HOW in the world I stayed so CALM!
Hmmm
November 23, 2009 at 5:34 pm #682400
KBearParticipant…the calmness EVER SO SUBTLY emphasized with CAPS…
November 23, 2009 at 6:04 pm #682401
JustSarahParticipantI love posts in which people capitalize random words. I always imagine them SHOUTING those WORDS, you KNOW? It’s especially FUNNY in this POST, since COSTCO is always capitalized. Next time we need to go to COSTCO, I’ll be sure to TELL the COSTCO employees how much I APPRECIATE them. ;-)
