“Corner bar/grill on two busy streets.”
We don’t get out enough, and not often to bars. I’m stumped.

MargLMemberHere’s a version with a clickable picture that you can see more detail.

JanSParticipantwow…I have (in my head) gone through all the major intersections, and the only one that comes to mind is Corner Pocket, but the picture looks like it has windows above ground. I’m stumped.
Anyone?
October 18, 2009 at 2:41 am #680013
MargLMemberChuck and Sally’s?
October 18, 2009 at 2:48 am #680014
JanSParticipantMargL….Great guess!. That seems like a winner :)
Whaddya think, TR?
except the ad says that there are three full time, and 3 part time employees…and C & S has been closed for some time…..hmmm…
October 18, 2009 at 3:13 am #680015
hollyplaceParticipantKind of looks like a corner in the admiral pub.
October 18, 2009 at 3:14 am #680016
WSBKeymasterI don’t think a two-year-closed establishment would be touting onion rings. Plus, I don’t THINK (never got to check it out) that Chuck/Sally was a grill. Only thing I didn’t think about before tossing it out here is … anyone ever been in Redline? Could be described as a corner location – almost corner – and does have food.
October 18, 2009 at 3:23 am #680017
miwsParticipantOff the top of my head, I want to say C & S as well. But the ad sure makes it sound like a currently operating business.
If it is C & S, those tables must be in the southernmost section. They expanded southward bit by bit over the years.
I know there were a couple of tables at the west end of the original northernmost section (where the bar itself is), and I believe video/pinball machines in the middle and/or southernmost sections, but don’t remember if there were more pool tables. The ceiling tiles look pretty much what I remember of C & S.
I seem to run into Cheryl, that tended bar there for years, a couple of times a year, most recently just under two months ago. Wish I knew how to get ahold of her.

DianeParticipantthe ad says “Growing Neighborhood
Close to Grocery Stores and Retail Shopping”
~
I have never been in most WS bars, so no help

isn’t there a pool hall under Easy Street? any windows?
October 18, 2009 at 3:30 am #680019
hollyplaceParticipantI notice the Wham album on the wall, I am still going with the Admiral Pub.Met market in near and it is close to a corner.
October 18, 2009 at 3:37 am #680020
miwsParticipantI haven’t been in Redline, since it became Redline, so don’t know the extent of any remodeling they did. The ad mentions a large private room available, which Legends did not have. C & S had a section, that southernmost one IIRC, that they said could be used for private parties.
I agree though, with TR regarding the “Bar & Grill” thing. Last I knew, you could still get things like chicken strips & fries, possibly fried chicken, and *maybe*(??) burgers, at C & S. But, also last I knew, there was only one employee, (the bartender) on duty at any given time, so I don’t think food service would have been a huge focus.
I was wondering if the listing service was being a bit creative in the way they advertised it, saying it *is* a bar & grill, when more accurately, they should have stated it has the potentialto be one.

GenHillOneParticipantI can at least exclude Admiral Pub – played a few games on their tables over the years and those aren’t them…no windows, surrounded by darts & video games on one side, tables and the bar on the other two. And there would be a big screen where the Wham album is – though glad I wasn’t the only one to recognize it ;)

WSBKeymasterRuled out Redline and Chuck/Sally for that matter by looking up the square footage. How about Triangle Tavern? Its building is described as almost 5K sf.
October 18, 2009 at 3:47 am #680023
miwsParticipantDiane, the one under Easy Street is the Corner Pocket, and no, no windows.
I’ve maybe only been in ther once, or twice, since it became the CP, which has been several years ago now. But, have fond memories of the original tavern in that spot, the Alaska Pipeline.
It opened, just over 30 years ago, about a month before I turned 21, and after I did so, became my regular hangout.
It was such a cool tavern back then. Everything brand new of course. Brightly lit, unlike many dimly lit bars/taverns of the time. It had little loveseat size couches at the tables, (which eventually migrated about a mile south to the Corner Inn). And, it had a kitchen so you could get a burger and fries, nachos, and such. I think that was a bit of a rarity in taverns at the time.

miwsParticipantHmmmmm….Triangle crossed my mind too, but haven’t been in there since their huge renovation.

beachdrivegirlParticipantI can second the exclusion of admiral pub. Defin. Have video games and no wood floors. I have never been to triangle pub.
October 18, 2009 at 4:31 am #680026
sacatoshParticipantDefinitely NOT the Triangle. It’s smaller than 5k sq ft by about 50%. Perhaps more. Plus their tables aren’t set up that way.

inactiveMemberHey –
I’ve only been in there twice, but I do think it is The Triangle. Unfortunately. Could be wrong, but the windows look right.
Off topic but Back to watch The Dow debate Hutchison – she is wiping off sweat on camera! Tacky! ;)

JanSParticipantmystery solved…it’s The Wall in WC – not exactly West Seattle, but close. And, no, I’ve never been, but I have it on good authority.
October 18, 2009 at 5:39 am #680032
MargLMemberYep – I’ve poked around and found some photos on a band site that’s played there and on the bar’s myspace page that confirms the interiors match.
It’s funny – if you look at googlemap’s street view from 98th street the sign says “Moon” – I guess it used to be called “Moon Sports Bar & Indian Grill” but if you turn the corner onto 16th the other sign says “The Wall”
October 18, 2009 at 5:42 am #680033
miwsParticipantThanks Jan!
Yeah, Marge, that place was the “Moon” for a while, in fact I had forgotten that it changed names.
I don’t think I have been in that building, since it was the Epicure.
That’s a looooong time ago! ;-)

MargLMemberIt’s also been called “Long Van Restaurant” – Chinese food. Can’t say I’ve ever been in the building for any of its incarnations but the turnover rate really doesn’t bode well for a new buyer…
