The West Seattle Community Orchestras (WSCO) will hold two community concerts:
· WSCO Debut Orchestra and Concert Orchestra Concert: 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10. Rachel Nesvig and Allion Salvador, conductors
· WSCO Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra Concert: 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13. Justin Murray and Bryan Kolk, conductors
Both concerts will take place in the Chief Sealth International High School Auditorium (2600 SW Thistle St). Admission is free, thanks to generous support from 4Culture, National Endowment for the Arts, ArtsWA, and local donations.
Tuesday’s concert will feature “Overture to Royal Fireworks Music” by George Frideric Handel and “Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 (Pastoral)” first movement as well as music from “Star Wars” and “Hamilton” and several other lighthearted compositions.
Honoring Women’s History Month, Friday’s concert will pay homage to women composers. The program includes “Turbinia” by Katherine Bergman; “Three Places in the West” by Elena Specht; “Ash” by Jennifer Jolley; “Chasing Sunlight” by Cait Nishimura; “Tutued Toucan Can-Can” by Erika Svanoe; “Hymn for Everyone” by Jessie Montgomery; “Three Sketches of Unblemished Earth” by Jordan Jinosko; and the allegro movement of Florence Price’s “Symphony No. 1 in E Minor.”
Spring registration now open
Spring 2026 registration is now open for all four ensembles. New members are welcome. Prospective new members should e-mail info@wscorchestras.org for audition information at their earliest opportunity. Returning members can register and find tuition information at www.wscorchestras.org/register. Note that K–12 students take part tuition-free. Rehearsals for spring concerts start on Tuesday, March 17.
