jkboisonMemberAnyone know what is being built? Is it an addition to Olympic Pizza??

hey – i think i recall TR saying that the construction next door was only identified as new business/office space????
I’m noticing lately what is going in that corridor between Bubbles up north and Olympia down south. That could be the beginning of a solid business core of the Valley, now that there is positive foot traffic into both places. They could act as anchors.
I remember a million years ago before the Madison Valley area was revitalized, as they say. One or two places plopped down on lower Madison….then, one by one others started heading in and established foot traffic. This phase of Delridge, I think, reminds me of that beginning.
Look at Madison Valley around The Bailey-Boushay House now! It is unrecognizable and completely renewed and thriving.
A drive-through espresso place would work in Delridge! That corridor gets SO much AM traffic that it would surely thrive!!!! Maybe someone reading will run with your idea.
I just drove down Delridge yesterday looking specifically at houses that might be salvageable for some enterprising vegan/veggie to rehab and run a quality vegetarian restaurant out of.
I am convinced there is a market down there. But, people need to snatch up the properties and NOT tear down, but rehab and preserve the remaining character.
ok. that’s my nickel’s worth for the evening.

jkboisonMemberDood thanks, that was at least a quarters worth of info ( ;
Yes that corridor needs more options for eating out. A good coffee shop to drive thru in the am and somewhere to pick up some decent food for din on the way home. From the Bridge to Westwood is aproximately 4 miles of well traveled road with only one Teryaki, one pizza, one taco truck and 2 coffee shops (without a little drive up
window)! Big opportunity there.
Anyone know what kind of bakery that is in the building kind of across from Olympic pizza?? There is no sign but must be a commessary bakery for local coffee shops??? I,ve seen the bakers rack in the windows and always wonder (I used to be a baker)…..

WSBKeymasterYes, that’s supposed to be office space. At least per the city permit.
Re: drive-thru espresso … if you go a mile further beyond North Delridge (or so) Sleepless on Harbor Ave is pretty decent. — TR

AnonymousInactiveI LOVE SLEEPLESS!!! They are the nicest people and the best coffee!!!
However – I don’t want the word to get out too much! I would hate to be in a line extending out on Harbor.

inactiveMemberBakery??? I drove past a bakery? That can’t be right.
Nah…..I would’ve noticed that. I kind of pride myself on knowing every pastry opportunity in the ‘hood. :)

AnonymousInactiveNR, I hope that’s drip coffee you’re getting. wouldn’t want you to be confused with us latte sippin’ elitist liberals! :) :) :)

inactiveMemberI do French Press these days. So, of course, that must signify that I’m an interdependent :]. Or, does it?
HaHaHa!
June 4, 2008 at 5:53 am #626184
AnonymousInactivedood, I think it does. And I make my lattes in the privacy of my home so I must be a closet something? Although I also dabble with the French Press, but NEVER drip.
June 4, 2008 at 5:53 am #626185
AnonymousInactiveWait a minute… I get the really fufu drinks! What does that make me????
June 4, 2008 at 5:54 am #626186
AnonymousInactiveOh god, NR. You’re in trouble.
June 4, 2008 at 5:54 am #626187
inactiveMemberWell, don’t take this to the bank. But, it might make you “special”. :) LOL
June 4, 2008 at 5:57 am #626188
AnonymousInactiveI always KNEW I was special!!!! It’s just that nobody else knows it yet!
June 4, 2008 at 5:58 am #626189
inactiveMemberSee, it’s the whole painfully long naming process for ordering coffee/latte’s or frappe’s. WhatEVers. It’s just gotten too complicated. I can’t cope. So, it’s French Press at home. I am old. ;)
June 4, 2008 at 6:00 am #626190
AnonymousInactiveDood, French Presses actually make the best coffee of all. So really, you just have exceptional taste.

AnonymousInactiveHow bad is this, my friends are embarrassed to go to Starbucks with me. That’s how bad it is.
After I ordered “my drink” one time at a Starbucks in the St. Louis airport, the lady told me I was gonna give myself a seizure.

jkboisonMemberI guess the beauty of this forum is that it can take you anywhere! We started with a question about construction on Delridge and ended (or is this the end??) with a dozen replies about what kind of coffee ya’ll drink!
LOL thanks for making it interesting……
ps. I am a double tall soy latte.

jkboisonMembermust be the caffeine…
June 4, 2008 at 5:56 pm #626197
AnonymousInactiveK –
In a venti iced cup, 3 shots of espresso and six pumps of white chocolate mocha over ice.
Then I add a little cream and mix it all up…. it’s like a milkshake!
Or, if it’s cold out, it’s a grande caramel macchiatto (S?,), hot, with 8 pumps vanilla.
I guess I like it really sweet.
Yeah, I tend to get off topic quite a bit. I apologize for that…. maybe it’s all the sugar.

JenVMemberHOLY CRAP NR!!! :)
June 4, 2008 at 7:31 pm #626199
AnonymousInactiveI know. Now you can understand why someone told me I would give myself a seizure!
June 4, 2008 at 7:32 pm #626200
AnonymousInactiveIn my defense, more often than not, I make regular coffee at home (strong) every morning and add a little french vanilla cream.
The above drinks are only on those special occasions that I want to “treat” myself.
