Ya just can’t make this stuff up.
Another triumph in the conservative Christians heroic struggle to make the Bible match their prejudices and what they learned from prosperity gospel tv charlatans and crazies.
I am sure there are legions of Ancient Greek scholars just lining up to help.

Note the term “Pharisee” is replaced with “intellectual” or “intellectual types” to make sure the authoritarian Talmudic law enforcers of the time of Jesus were turned into a modern pejorative (as far as conservatives are concerned) rather than being associated with modern theocratic nationalist old testament law enforcers like … well, themselves.
This has been up since August 09 and has not been taken down or repudiated in the days since some actual scholars noticed it, so I have to assume it is not a joke. At least not on purpose.

After reading a bit of the translation, my stupidity, irony and hypocrisy meters are busted and the shrapnel will take days to recover. Most of it seems to be cut n past from the online “good news” bible with a bit of find and replace used to reverse the meaning of certain terms and accepted usage.
The “Movement Conservatives” who took over the Republican party a couple of decades ago have recently finished alienating Hispanics, educated people and sick people.
This should finish off Christians who can read.

The rampant anti-intellectualism and blatant lies are so repugnant to me, that I almost don’t have language for it.
Why do a translation from Greek, when you can paraphrase from English and COMPLETELY lose any connection to the original message?

instead of quoting someone else mis-quoting the bible..
christian liberals know that the New Testament put Christ in Christianity…
the New Testament is where they got all those liberal ideas in the first place :))))
But you don’t need to actually read the bible if Christianity is little more than political propaganda to you…

QueMemberJoB, I totally agree with you. Christian liberals definitely do their homework with regard to exegesis and studying the Bible. The New Testament is chock full of incredibly liberal ideas (Care for the Poor, Anybody?) And the basis of much of the Justice work that has been done in our country has a basis in scripture.
The idea that a dumbed down version of the Bible that culls out the complexity and leaves a cartoon-like hull with no depth to it is sad to me.

you label them fairy tales.. i label them parables..
but regardless of the label, there is a lot of wisdom in those stories.
