Businesses do try to keep their storefront inviting, including having parking nearby when they might have little street frontage, but please keep in mind there’s a lot of activity in that area during the day and a lot of restaurants/their employees can be targets of crime too. Foot traffic calms down, streets are an empty, quick getaway, and I’ve worked in restaurants where thieves have walked right into the open back door during cleaning to make off with valuables and have walked many a server to their car when they get off work at 11PM or later with cash tips, etc.
