Any word on when Brickyard BBQ is going to open? Can’t wait for some serious Texas style BBQ :-).

Have you been by there in the past 24 hours or so? I seem to recall someone claiming they were perhaps going to soft-open this weekend. Won’t be able to check it out ourselves tonight.

No, I haven’t had a chance today. I was in that area on Thursday and it didn’t seem like they were quite ready. I’ll have to take a drive by tomorrow.

I happened to drive by this afternoon and saw people in their courtyard.

We walked by this morning after getting bagels. Things were coming together in the new building, though some work was left to be done. In the smokehouse/kitchen, a guy was prepping a few racks of ribs. Test run?

I know they had some inspections this week. So if not open then it should be close.

Christopher went by today and got the word that Wednesday is the official opening date. Posting on the home page shortly.

It is open now. After their first week rush where they ran out of food, they have things dialed in (except for ribs for some reason).

Fine for BBQ, not as hot as I would like, but, if you don’t like hot food avoid the Jalapeno Cornbread (my favorite thing so far). A fine place for a fast plate of slow food, and a bottled beer (or a shot).

We went to Brickyard on thursday at 6pm. It was average at best. The beans were lukewarm, the biscuits very tough, and they where already out of potato salad. The meat was pretty good but portions were small. Also they have no deserts to finsih off the BBQ. We will not bother to go back. Pecos Pete and Jones are much better and better prices.

My wife and I took our toddler daughter here this evening and got their just at the beginning of a dinner rush, i’m sure due to the gorgeous weather-they were running out of some items, but they seem to be getting a bit better at gauging that every day… the chicken was excellent (we had the milder of the two sauce options) and the portions were substantial (and i can eat a LOT of bbq at one time) — the slaw was excellent, the peas were very good, and the jalap cornbread was indeed hot throughout… i suggested they ad a non-jalapeno option for those of us with seattle palates. . . it took a while to order and to get the food, but three different employees apologized (one was the co-owner), and they bought us one of our two dinners to make up for the wait (they offered to buy both, we didn’t think it warranted that at all). They seemed to be absolutely bent on having everyone leave happy, they are making a real effort to take good care of their customers, and that is all i need to see to go back for some more of this excellent bbq and a great courtyard setting. pecos pit is really good bbq, but it is ONLY a to-go joint unless you want to eat your lunch in the middle of the cacophony that is first avenue (and they are open about four hours a day for lunch only) – sandwiches are almost too big, but really limited in menu, and jones is completely average and overpriced for the portions. Give the brickyard a shot, i’m betting you will like it all.

Does anyone know if their smokers are electric or the real deal?

More attention to detail needs to be paid in the kitchen and in the pit. Dry brisket, untrimmed pulled pork (4 tablespoons of globular fat in one serving),undercooked potato salad, and plastic wrap in the slaw don’t make for a quality dining experience. It’s not traditional Texas meat market BBQ anyway. So, even if Brickyard gets it together there are lots of other proven sauce slathered options available.

Unless they make changes, this place will not last. I had a so-so meal, but the chaos of the service and that their employees (bartender and wait staff who are then joined by customers) smoke on the sidewalk where the smoke affected my enjoyment of a meal…. I wont be back. Like the previous comment… the portion was generous and the flavors great, but the brisket was very fatty – seemed like 1/3 was fat. When I commented to the waitress.. I was told, that’s why the portions are so generous… The bar setting/smoking on the sidewalk and fatty beef is a deal breaker for me… WS has too many of these types of places already.

Try OK Corral BBQ! Parking is tricky. If you pass the place you’ve missed it, and there is no easy way back. But, the ribs are fall off the bone tender, smokey, and the sauce is excellent. Like the owner says, “If the food isn’t good, why bother?”

It’s funny, all of this talk on the forum pushed me to try it yesterday. Went there during the Seahawks game, so it was crowded and maybe not how things typically are.

There weren’t any tables so some people nicely invited us to sit at the empty seats at theirs. That was cool- you don’t see that much in Seattle.

Service was chaotic. The one waiter was overwhelmed but nice. They ran out of PBR. But most people there didn’t care, they were just chilling.

The food was pretty good (very good pork, so-so brisket) but after about 15 minutes I think I figured out what this place is: a cool place to hang out that serves ice cold beer and has some decent food to go with it.

Don’t go there expecting bbq like you had in Raleigh or San Antonio or St. Louis back in the day. Don’t go there hoping a waiter will drop a white cloth napkin in your lap.

Go there expecting to kick back, socialize, have a few beers, and eat something. And you just might have a really good time.
