JoBParticipantArnold.. i want you to know that i have only the highest respect and reverence for what a pig can do in the kitchen.
I admit i ordered the bacon for my daughter who is visiting…
but i was just reminded that i will have the grease for flavoring i the dark hours of the year.
that’s a gift that keeps on giving.

PatrickKeymasterAs some one who had to explain who Sgt. Schultz was today my outlook on life drastically improved knowing that Arnold is still with us.
December 4, 2008 at 2:13 am #648673
JanSParticipantI remember Sgt. Schultz “Schultzie !!!!!”…geez, Zen, you’re not as old as me…how do you know all this stuff?

GenHillOneParticipant“I know NUFF-ING!”
December 4, 2008 at 2:34 am #648675
celeste17ParticipantGenHill I was thinking of that before I read your post. I can just see him saying it.

cjboffoliParticipantActually, I think the pig who provided this bacon was named Helen.
December 4, 2008 at 4:40 am #648677
pigeonmomParticipantcjboffoli, my stomach just lurched at that.
The guilt of being a meat eater gets to me
at times.
December 4, 2008 at 8:22 am #648678
JanSParticipantyou know, I’ve never had any problem with meat of any type…except bunny…can’t do it…Oh, and one part of the pig…it’s feet, especially if pickled or jellied. Now…has that put you off your feed for a bit? lol…
but I luvs me some goooooddddd bacon :) even if she was Helen…

FullTiltParticipantI lived on a small self sufficient farm for a while when I was a kid. We named all the animals. My dad thought we should have compassion for what we were eating. Later in life I became a Vegan crusty punk and “visited” some factory farms. The vegan days are now over, but I am much more comfortable eating Helen the pig, then the product number 489204-a34515 that spent its short life in a factory.

jrodieParticipantI SEE NOTHING

JoBParticipantas long as helen doesn’t come with her picture on the label, we’ll be fine.
even if it does, we will be fine since i am too far gone with anticipation to quit now.
