OlMomParticipantAs I come into West Seattle and look up at the pedestrian bridge I miss seeing the posters. It was kind of neat to see “Happy Birthday Joe” or “Congratulations Bob & Sue.” Sure, it was tacky and small town but do we need to outlaw and regulate every little thing?

grrParticipantyup..some freakin’ moron (and everyone that lives near there knows who) just had to be a pissant and ruin the fun. The signs were one of the many things I LOVED about WS when I first moved here. I really miss it. Really made if feel like home.

BonnieParticipantI miss them too. They were fun to read. Although, I do agree they can be a distraction. Years ago my husband had a motorcycle run into him down on Delridge where the old Cooper School was (now Youngstown) and they used to have tons of signs on the bridge. They were always fun to read though.

Signs on the overpass are no more distracting than the “walking on logs” statues dressed up in their various outfits – usually supporting some group or upcoming event…which I think is cute and always look to see what they’re wearing..just as I always use to look up to see whose special day/event it was…sometimes I even knew the person :)
Another frustrating case of the squeaky wheel getting oil’d.
I think angry Mr Freakin’ Moron needs a “Wag more, Bark Less” sticker stuck on his…. ? jk
… probably hates animals too

I live near there, I don’t know who it is. I feel left out.
Pros- No vote for “insert name” posters since. Although those weirdos with coffee and big sunglasses wake up early and take off work to still hold signs and wave at people during November.
Cons- I can’t put up a sign that lets people in traffic know they can take the bus instead and stop causing traffic.

grrParticipantQuimby…. :) Yeah..the bus..let’s see… my 22 mile commute. tried it once. nearly 2.5 hours and three bus changes. No thanks. I’ll drive. 30mpg in the car and 45 on the bike. Good enough.

swimcatMemberI miss the signs too- someone put one up for me and my sister and our friends in WS loved seeing and commenting to us about it. It was definitely one of my most favorite birthday ‘gifts’. I also loved seeing that it was someone’s special day/celebration somewhere in the ‘hood. And some of the signs were just flat out funny- a good way to start the morning commute!

I usually am laughing at the people doing the 22 mile commute with coffee, cigarette and cell phone in hand. I digress…
Did anyone ever wonder where these signs end up? Under the bridge, responsibly taken down after the celebration, election or april 21st??? Just curious.
