The banner police must be on vacation

Saw this at 7 am today, resolved we wouldn’t mention it unless it was still there at 6:30 tonight. It was. Where are the banner police? On the campaign payroll, maybe? WEDNESDAY MORNING UPDATE: Still there …

It was there bright and early (5:15am) Monday morning. Very surprised it lasted as long as it has.

Is Ron Paul the brother of Les Paul – of Gibson Guitar fame?

  • Jan October 2, 2007 (8:23 pm)

hahaha….no, I don’t think he is. Maybe the banner police melt in the rain :)

  • CandrewB October 2, 2007 (8:24 pm)

Brother of Les Paul and also little-known father of RuPaul.

  • Jan October 2, 2007 (9:30 pm)

    hehehehehehe

  • Eddie October 3, 2007 (6:31 am)

Didn’t I see RuPaul in another topic here?

  • Tonya October 3, 2007 (8:03 am)

I can’t believe the following this guy has, don’t people read anymore?

  • evan October 3, 2007 (9:50 am)

Not neocons. well, maybe they can read but its very selective reading.

Isn’t ron paul the guy that “got the vapors” whilst yelling about how evolution is a lie and that the earth is only 6000 years old and is flat, not round? I remember reading about a texas republican doing that, but i forget the name. Kinda looks like Ron Paul though. Glad to see the Mars Hill people can put banners up as well as complain about baby seals ruining their mass baptism because they cant “worship loud enough”

    Which guy has a following?
    The 92yo guitar legend.
    The 72yo Texas libertarian congressman.
    or
    The 47yo Fabulous dragqueen?

    Still there on Weds morning.

I miss the banners that read ‘Happy 6th Anniversary Maude” or “happy b-day so and so” and “Joanie loves Chaci”. Whatever the case, they’re harmless banners and give WS its wonderful and charming character. But political, cause-based banners don’t have a place on the overpass; that’s what yard signs are for. And Ron (9/11 was an inside job!) Paul? Oh brother, I’m a GOPer and even I think that guy is frickin’ loon.

  • Jan October 3, 2007 (1:57 pm)

and I’ve seen quite a few signs for the guy around West Seattle…no accounting for taste, huh. I particularly dislike political signs ANYWHERE that isn’t private property. My feeling is that a candidate should have to get permission (written), permits, or something to put their signs up on city property, whether it’s the overpass, along Admiral Way, on the side of the road going towards the WS Bridge from 35th and Fauntleroy…wherever. Those are the signs that don’t get taken down after elections, until they disintegrate…

and, yes, Ron Paul is a particularly interesting brand of loon, isn’t he?

  • Erik October 3, 2007 (2:11 pm)

Since Ron in effect is a 3rd Party candidate (libertarian) he’ll fall into the loon category…as opposed to the normal loon-acy we get from the so-called two party system.

  • Jan October 3, 2007 (6:03 pm)

wikipedia describes him as a conservative, a constitutionalist, a libertarian…Erik? are you saying we have loons in our gov’t? Nooooooo, that can’t be……can it?

  • OP October 4, 2007 (1:23 am)

    Oohhhh, wikipedia.

Is this where you derive info from? Why not get it off a roll of TP…..equally as accurate…

  • Tonya October 4, 2007 (8:08 am)

He falls under the catagory of “Moonbat”… he is not a conservative.

  • Jan October 4, 2007 (11:44 am)

OP…thanks for your (once again) oh, so nice comment. I didn’t say I take it as the truth…I was just quoting what it says about him….equally as good as what you might say about him…so…chill…and have a great day…:)

  • OP October 4, 2007 (12:49 pm)

Somebody thinks they’re funny. I did NOT write this, Jan.

    An apology is forthcoming.

  • Jan October 4, 2007 (12:56 pm)

hmmm…well…I suppose then we can let WSB sort that out, huh…you’re right, it’s not cool to pretend to be someone else on here just to be contentious…

    again…hope it’s a great day…enjoy the brief bits of sun we’re getting :)

  • OP October 4, 2007 (1:03 pm)

Oh, and there’s a Ron “Looney Tunes” Paul banner on the walking over pass going northbound on 99/599 near South Park that’s been up for a couple of days now.

  • Erik October 4, 2007 (1:22 pm)

South Park, I used to live in that barrio. I imagine the banner police there would be more heavily armed.

  • Jan October 4, 2007 (1:34 pm)

obviously, someone likes him a lot…wow…

  • OP October 4, 2007 (1:54 pm)

obviously, someone likes him a lot…wow…

He won a recent WA state GOP straw poll, amazingly enough. He took 28%. Fred 20%. Rudy 18%. (How accurate those numbers are questionable for sure. Straw polls too informal to be taken seriously, IMO.) He’s more of a Libertarian than GOPer, so I’m baffled by the support he’s getting—especially in this state. Bizarre.

  • Jan October 4, 2007 (8:34 pm)

hey…I saw another sign for him this evening on an overpass over Holman Rd NW in the Crown Hill area…I think the statement “someone likes him a lot” is putting it mildly…still not sure why they do, though…

  • OP October 5, 2007 (12:09 am)

    Drugs, Jan, drugs….that’s your answer

  • Jan October 5, 2007 (1:39 am)

    mmmmmmmm….drugs….think they’d share? hehehe

  • Raul March 17, 2008 (1:17 pm)

Wait, are people here saying we should have free speech (on public property) unless it supports a political position?!

Sorry, comment time is over.
