TreyseaLinMember425, I’m so curious. What was the point in letting us know that your friend is a “welfare case”?

JanSParticipantJoB….the aforementioned Eltana on Capitol Hill is supposed to be the one that’s closest to NY bagels…but…as you can see, NY transplant Sue doesn’t like them…oh, well..as I said before, to each his own…

425mediaParticipant@TreyseaLin I know I am setting myself up here, here is the reason: My friend has been on unemployment, not because he HAS to but because he WANTS to.. He is an alcoholic and womanizer and IMHO a terrible father. I was completely frustrated after speaking with him and thought that mentioning him in some small way would help me forget about the way he is now, and perhaps remember the way he WAS when we were growing up. There ya have it. Now it is time to crack the Crown and drown my sorrow.

SueParticipantJan, I thought I heard that Eltana was a Montreal-style bagel, but never having had Montreal-style bagels, I couldn’t agree or disagree. I just know I wouldn’t eat another one.

cjboffoliParticipantSue: That’s exactly right. They’re Montreal style bagels. Smaller and denser than NY style but with a similar amount of toothy chewiness. They’re baked in a wood fired oven so they have a touch of smoke too. Hand-rolled so the care and attention is there. Definitely worth a try if you’ve not had them.

SeekingEurosParticipantI am proud to NOT be a foodie. However, like others, i know what i like and i like Zatz. I have lived all over the US (not NY, but travel there quarterly), and hands down, Zatz has the best bagels that I have ever had. And i can get one that is still hot. And i LOVE the chocolate chip bagels.
Food is like art; what is one peron’s art treasure is another’s trash. Food/art comments are “opinions”…So my opinion – Not only do i like Zatz, i commend them for being one of the more community minded WS companies. They have donated to several public events that i have attended over the years which has made the events that much more successful. Good bagels AND good cheer.
And i love the mall anology. Seems like the mall of some in WS is pretty small.

KimberleyParticipantI believe West Seattle Produce sells Seattle Bagel Bakery bagels, which used to be available at Metro Market before they were sold. They’re also the bagels available at Cherry St. Coffee downtown. They’re kettle boiled bagels are fan-freaking-tastic (in my opinion at least). I love Zatz (onion – om nom nom). I think Christopher has just ruined the chocolate chip bagels for me forever. Better to be an informed bagel lover than blissfully unaware I suppose.

JustSarahParticipantPretty sure I’ve heard the bagels at Stopsky’s Deli on Mercer Island are NY style. :)

JoBParticipanthubby thinks he longs for the NY style bagels of his youth
available at a local bagel shop in Tuscon :)
what can i say?

datamuseParticipantThose are the ones, Kimberley. I like them a lot.
Now, if anyone knows where I can get nova lox around here…

SonomaParticipantWell, if 425media is just providing a perfectly reasonable, independent opinion, he or she might want to change the screen name. After all, it’s the same name of this company, which helps small businesses promote themselves.
From 425media’s Web site:
About Us
Short answer? We provide marketing and technical help for small businesses.
Long answer? 425 Media is a group of talented, dedicated and trustworthy marketing specialist that focus on supporting small businesses and web based technologies. Our primary focus is to assist small to medium businesses with their company network, website and internet marketing needs. Our group of marketing strategists have been trained to listen and learn your specific business rather than performing random marketing or product suggestions.
Being a small business, we understand the limitations on working capital and time. Our preferred method of helping small businesses is a largely hands off business model. You are focused on your day to day operations and have limited time to devote to marketing. Our services requires minimal interaction from the client. However, we love interacting with our clients, especially those who enjoy giving feedback and input. 425 Media is locally owned and has a large list of satisfied clients. Here are some kind thoughts from some of our long time customers:
425 Media is located in the heart of the one Bothell’s oldest malls, The Country Village Shops. Our office is located at 813 238th St SE #H, Bothell Wa, 98021. We are laser focused on the east side the Seattle area, however, we have clients all of the states.
Overall, we will find have a hard time finding the time to market their business and that is where 425 Media shines. We can create an easy way for you to do as much or as little as you want. For instance, we have a process in which our clients can do something as sending an email into our computers and your message will get propagated all over the internet, Facebook, Twitter, Blog posts and even your personal website.

425mediaParticipantI just had a great frick’n bagel man.
August 17, 2012 at 1:18 am #767078
SonomaParticipantHa! 425media, do your clients pay you for every click?
August 17, 2012 at 1:24 am #767079
SonomaParticipantSeriously, I’m sure your Internet marketing business does good and valuable work, and, most likely, you do enjoy Zatz Bagels, but you should really, really change your screen name so people really, really understand you did not post this on behalf of your client. (Also, on your profile, you even show that your interests include Internet Marketing.) We wouldn’t want to unfairly presume a conflict of interest.
P.S. I’d have to concur, Zatz is pretty good, plus they do a lot for the community. OK, they’re not New York bagels, but they’ll do in a pinch.

http://www.google.com/search?aq=1&oq=kupel&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8&q=kupel’s
Since moving to Seattle I’ve found Noah’s to be pretty good although they don’t boil them first.
August 19, 2012 at 8:08 pm #767082
KimberleyParticipantOh now that’s just mean oldgrayboarder, mean. They have hands down the best onion bagels, ever. Noah’s onion bagels are seriously lacking. Why don’t you just post about this place next:
