What is happening to this building? Just a few years ago it was brand new and the condos were selling at the peak of the market, assocition and parking fees were sky high. Now it has been wrapped in plastic for a month for repairs? renovation? Anybody know what’s happening?

Looks like the have a permit (issued in August) for the following work:

Remove and replace vinyl siding, weather resitant barrier, remove and reset doors and windows with new flashing following EHB 1848 requirements, per plan, and subject to field inspection (STFI).

You can look up permits issued at http://www.seattle.gov/DPD

Wow. How much will this cost the owners? Or will all of these repairs be paid by the original construction company?

It depends on many things. It could be faulty design by the architect. It could be poor design by the window manufacturer. It could be that the contractor didn’t install the windows or doors per the plans or specifications. All of these things would determine responsibility. It’s tough to say, but usually the owner ends up paying for it…..or their insurance at least :)
