Try Fisherman’s terminal. I’ve seen signs there to buy it off the boats. I haven’t been there recently though..

Hey, WSBers, Is there a neighbor who’s really savvy about PhotoShop for the PC? I need a bit of help adding images into an existing image. I can’t seem to grasp the operation from the manual. Trade you lunch here (home made organic beef stew) for some tutoring. Myrna Hoffman 206.344.3338

The bacon is scheduled to arrive late this afternoon. So I’ll be doing bacon deliveries tonight, Monday, December 8. The times and locations are as follows:

5:45-6:15pm: ADMIRAL: Far north end of the Metropolitan Market parking lot.

6:30-7:00pm: MORGAN: Far south end of the Thriftway parking lot.

7:10-7:30pm: JUNCTION: Key Bank parking lot, site of Sunday Farmer’s Market

It will obviously be dark by the time these deliveries happen, but I’ll do all I can to stand out. I may just have to make up a pig sign and hold it on a stake. I’ll be driving a 2008 VW Eos. Here is a daytime photo of the bacon mobile you will be looking for:

My mobile number is: 646.283.2982. Please be a bit patient if the times are not exact. I can’t say that I’ve had to coordinate bacon distribution before so I’m at the mercy of unforeseen circumstances.

The bacon is $10 per pound. Cash and exact change is appreciated. Checks made out to “Christopher Boffoli” will be fine.

    See you later!

We have an opening for a lead relocation technician. This is a full time position and wages depend on experience.

We are a small family business based just south of West Seattle in South Park and our primary business is building wooden crates, this job pertains to the other half of our business wherein we work with moving companies to go to people’s houses and crate up their glass tabletops, mirrors, artwork and other items. We also would have you connect and disconnect washers, dryers and icemakers. We sometimes assemble and disassemble pool tables, exercise equipment, grandfather clocks and other furniture.

This job requires that you have a clean driving record, be able to lift over 75 lbs, be able to use hand and power tools proficiently, be presentable and have a good attitude. We are willing to train the right person. Some weekend work is necessary.

We offer good benefits after a probationary period. Please email your resume to esew@customcrating.com or fax to 206-762-6579 with attention to Erik.

If you think you might be a good fit for this position, please apply and I will contact you with more specifics.

Posted this on the home page last night, but in case you missed it, Sustainable West Seattle president Bill Reiswig just reiterated the invitation in a comment on that past – SWS’ “money-free shopping spree” potluck/gift swap (services count as gifts too!) is TONIGHT at Camp Long, 6-9 pm. Patrick is one of the speakers (he’ll be brief, last I heard he was writing a haiku) … should be a fab event.

I just wanted to come back here and update because we had such a GREAT experience at Fat City!!

They were very reasonably priced, very fast and even did NOT charge for some of the labor!

Overall, wonderful place, highly recommended! Plus, you gotta love a business owner who brings their dog to work with them everyday! :)

Watch out… I remember a similar post to this quite a while back, and many people jumped in to attack the poster with “why do you care?” “it’s not hurting anyone” and “pick your battle” comments. It’s good to see that, so far, commenters are reasonable and understand that this behavior (dumping your dog’s poop in another’s trash/recycling) is not o.k.

Coffee to a Tea/Sugar Rush did cupcakes for my kid’s first birthday – one big cupcake for the kid decorated with a pirate ship, and a mixed selection of standard cakes with other pirate-related designs on. Nicely done. Fortunately now the kid prefers PIE.

I love the little cupcakes at Coffee to a Tea… but the cake – YUCK!

I grew up with “birthday cake” being white cake with white buttercream icing so when we moved here I gave C to a T a try. The cake was beautiful but all of the kids took 1 bite (even my own little suger fiends) and said that they had enough. The cake was too sweet to eat.

I’ll have to give The Original Bakery a try…

Wanted to share this note from Jessie at Cupcake Royale in The Junction – will be posting about it on the hp later:

    >>I was hoping you could let blog readers know about our food drive on Monday. In light of how severely food banks are being hit by the current economy, we can think of no better way to celebrate our birthday than by collecting gifts for those who need it most. We’re having a food drive in all three of our locations to benefit a local food bank in each neighborhood. In West Seattle, our bins will benefit the West Seattle Food Bank. The bins will be up through December 24th, but on Monday, Dec 8th – our actual birthday, anyone who comes in with a gift for the food bank gets a free birthday cupcake. As we turn five, we want to get all of our friends and neighbors together to give back to the community we’re so proud to call home! Please help us collect as much food as possible for the West Seattle Food Bank!<<

“Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!” it NEVER stays for very long and its so magical when it comes drifting down from above! There is no need for SNOW to be the weather that must not be named. LOVE the fluffy white stuff! Hunker down with a cup of coffee, tea or coco and really enjoy it!

We have a few things in in good working order to share with anyone who might want them!

    — LeapPad learning system: includes a pink/purple carrying case, the standard program, plus 4 additional books (2 reading/2 math) for ages 4-6.

    — still in-the-box, never used kids’ microscope kit, good quality

    — plastic “marble run” (the kind that you build/re-build), pretty sure most pieces are still there

Since it’s rainy today I won’t leave them out, but feel free to PM me and we can arrange a hand-off.

Mike and grrr, I agree completely on the townhomes there.

FUGLY, no other word for them.

I had a convo with a man one day about 3 months ago as we both were stopped in our tracks while out for a walk going opposite directions to exclaim to each other what an abomination they were.

Especially when you look directly across the street and can see a great design with the townhouses there.

Wow. I’d be really careful with that. All of the research I’ve read has always stated that 4:1 ratio as being closest to what hummingbirds experience in nature. Too much sugar can cause them serious liver and reproductive problems.
