AnonymousInactiveJust curious if anyone has used Fat City for their car service needs.

AnonymousInactiveFullTilt – So you drive a German car as well? Where do you take yours?

FullTiltParticipantWe have a Jetta TDI. It has gone to Dr Dans in Ballard. http://www.fuelwerks.com/?page_id=28 Great service. CHEAP.
Also Hans VW in West Seattle. He changed the price on me, but not by a huge amount. Still annoying though.
There is a porche BMW guy on Delridge near Cafe Rozella. They also do anything German. I hear great things about them.

BonnieParticipantMy husband brought our Audi in for some basic service to Fat City and he came out paying over $1600. Seemed like a complete rip off to me. Won’t go back.

OliverMemberWe have been loyal customers of Fat City since 2000 (for two different cars). I cannot say enough nice things about Fat City. Their staff is always curteous and they are way more knowledgable than the mechanics/staff at the dealer (Carter). They are expensive simply because maintenance for a german car is expensive. However they are often less expensive than the dealer and the service is far superior. One of the most important reasons we are loyal customers is that we feel that they are extremely honest. As a woman who doesn’t know much about cars, I used to always feel that I would be ripped off. That’s never been the case with Fat City. We had a Passat that had some bizarre problems that the dealer could not identify. Fat City spent several days running diagnositics at no charge to eventually identify the problem.
Seriously, if I were going to list the best local businesses, Fat City would be at the top of the list.

AnonymousInactiveWow! Thanks for that Oliver. We were looking into Benz and Friendz (s?), because it had been recommended to us previously. However, after some research, we found that they have recently been involved in a lawsuit and they also are not very good at getting back to us – just to schedule an appointment!
I guess we could always get a check out, an estimate and then a second opinion regarding the rate quoted.
Thanks for all the info everyone!

AnonymousInactiveI just wanted to come back here and update because we had such a GREAT experience at Fat City!!
They were very reasonably priced, very fast and even did NOT charge for some of the labor!
Overall, wonderful place, highly recommended! Plus, you gotta love a business owner who brings their dog to work with them everyday! :)
