It will be so nice at the beginning of 2024 when employers with 15+ employees in Washington are required to post the pay for a position in all job postings. Something I feel that employers would already voluntarily make public, saving both parties time in the application process, and ensuring fair offers to all applicants. What is the pay for this position?

I recommend Michael Galang. You can find him on nextdoor, as this is how I always communicate with him (last time in Dec). His main job isnt as handyman so he is limited in what he can do but I have had good experiences the 3 times I used him. He is usually available to do jobs nights and weekends.

About 6:30 am this morning (Monday) police and a wrecker showed up on the west side of Harbor West condos on Beach Drive SW. Apparently someone had driven a car down the boat ramp (service ramp) from the Harbor West parking area onto the beach. They then drove about a hundred feet down the shoreline before getting hung up on a rock. Not sure about make (Kia possibly) was towed out prior to tide coming in. Stolen vehicle? Just some idiot high on life taking a short cut? Not sure if anyone was there when police arrived.

Yes, you are. Saw a pickup with a trailer on 55th working on someone’s house. Noticed a sign on the trailer that don’t come closer than 50′ not responsible for damage. Have seen these signs on the back of dump trucks also. Sorry, the law is CLEAR. RCW46.61.655 CLEARLY states that drivers ARE responsible for properly securing loads so that NOTHING comes loose. It’s a $216 ticket. If someone is injured because of something coming loose it is a gross misdemeanor. Attaching a sign will NOT absolve you of fault.

Hello fellow West Seattlites, does anyone know why Dr. Nelson’s office is closed? Her office is at Genesee and California Ave SW, used to be Dr. Korn’s office. For the past few days no-one is there, and no explanation on the VM.
Any leads or contact information… or idea when they’ll reopen?
    Thank you!

What always makes me laugh about this phenomenon is how at the same moment someone is just walking out the front door with free groceries, I’m stuck at the self-check waiting for help that will only eventually come to allow me to continue trying to pay for my groceries once an employee confirms that my rearranging of what I already scanned was not, in fact, some attempt at scamming the system.

Like, seriously, if you’re not bothered enough to put up barriers to shoplifting, maybe make the self-check less of a hassle?

Upon SW’s recommendation, we hired Peter Shank to paint our living and dining rooms. Peter is excellent to work with. He is very responsive, honest, and does outstanding work. We thought so highly of his work that we have booked Peter to replace our deck railing, lay a vapor barrier and replace our deck lattice trim. You can reach Peter at (206) 779-3161 – his website is http://www.stronghammerandbrush.com

Sorry for bumping into an old conversation. I completely understand the struggle to find a new tax prep firm after your trusted one retires. I don’t have any personal experience with firms in WS, but I hope you find one soon. Also, have you tried a real check stub maker? It’s a great app to help with managing finances. Of course, you’ll want to research and compare a few firms before making a final decision.

I took two chairs to Eidem’s for reupholstering some years back. After a year of calling and receiving empty promises of imminent completion, I went to the shop. It was then a storefront. My chairs, untouched, were in a pile of chairs in the window in what looked like a junk heap. I demanded that they return my chairs immediately and return my deposit. Instead, they haphazardly slapped them together overnight and delivered them the next day. They may have new management now, but it was not a great experience then.

What kind of upholstery? Home;car;boat? There are quite a few upholstery shop employees that do side work from home. While I don’t know any the best way is to call around. If it’s for a car call some of the car repair shops, they would have ideas. If it’s for a home same thing. Call some furniture stores for their recommendations. Same thing for boats. Call some boat dealers around town. I have known people who have had work done by an employee doing side work in their basement or garage and were very pleased with the work done.

I miss Lee’s so much! If Lee’s management has indeed taken over Snappy Dragon, that dashes my hopes of them returning to West Seattle. Judy Fu’s is fantastic – homemade noodles, MaPo tofu, etc. – but it’s out of range for me. Glad for Lee, but sorry for me and all the other Lee’s lovers. Lunch at Lee’s used to bring me to the Junction at least once or twice a week, but there’s no place I enjoy going anymore.

Bill Lee of Lee’s Asian restaurant is the new owner of Judy Fu’s Snappy Dragon, a long-time Roosevelt neighborhood favorite at 8917 Roosevelt Wy NE. For now, it’s only take-out and delivery, though it looks like when they open up to seated dining there will be a bit more room than there was at Lee’s. And it’s still the Snappy Dragon menu (it’s only the first week), but Bill may introduce some of the Lee’s favorites in time.

If it’s for your home call some local furniture stores for their recommendations. If it’s for your car call some repair places, or dealers or if it’s for a boat call some local boat dealers. All these places should have names. As far as someone working from home you’d be surprised how many people there are. Many work for businesses but do side work for extra money. A couple of friends have had someone doing a side hustle out of their homes do upholstery work for them and have been very happy with their work.
