Be aware that this business refuses to take cash.

When I complained to the people there I was told it was a decision made by the owner.

<Shrug> So I walked down the street to a different business and spent my cash there, they were quite happy to have it.

Just the facts … I’ll keep my opinions to myself.

We bought our house in 2003
Invested about $150k to improve the property
Recently Invested $18k to stabilize my house which was built on floating grass

I have nothing against growth, but it should not come at the cost of the piggy bank for the city…..”My home”. And I have NOOOO issue with renters, I was one….but WHY does a renter get to approve withdrawls on my home? Shouldn’t this be a decision for the homeowners? We have the foot the bill and get taxed out. If you think I am kidding, look at Lisa Herbolds recent flyer spouting “all this gets paid for with taxes from the homeowner which the city has been granted permissions to apply on homes”…..Lisa, would you mind if I steal the money out of your purse, Oh, sorry, let me ask my neighbor if its ok to steal money from your purse.

BUT HERE IS THE REASON I AM WRITING THIS…..

City of Seattle has granted themselves an excise tax when you sell your home. Our friend bought his house for $250k and lived in it for 25-30 years and dumped in tons of money to fix it up. He sold it for $750k

City of Seattle received $48k THOUSAND DOLLARS for the sale of his home. This was in addition to the fees for the realtor. This does NOT include any other fees.

Now here is the kicker, they are getting a HUGE percentage of your equity, because they granted themselves the fee for the sale, not at the price you paid. So they get all the sweat, tears and blood on what my house increased to???

If this makes sense, please let me know.

    But did you know

    1. If you don’t have an alley way, the city actually owns 10 feet from your property line into your yard. The same for your neighbor behind you.

    2. They also own 3 feet into your front yard from the sidewalk. You don’t own it, but you maintain it and pay taxes on it

You pay the taxes on city property and yet, you don’t own it. They can come onto your property and add a telephone pole without your permission.

    Yes, this one is repeated

    3. Of course every knows we somehow voted for a $3.80 fee to come into the city. This is a new penalty for driving, but if you didn’t know, just wanted to summarize!

New development downtown is NOT required to include any parking. This to make Seattle carless.

In addition the city is planning on a 1.1cent a mile in addition to the gas tax.

Now I don’t know about anyone elses neighborhood, BUT Lisa Herbold has blocked any work in our neighborhood due to a heated debate about her lying to our neighborhood about fixes that have never occurred.
Lisa likes to tell everyone she didn’t vote for a sugar tax that they recently tried to pull into the General fund (after selling as a fund for the elderly and fighting childhood obesity) but she forgets to tell everyone that she said NO, because they would not also include Diet drinks.

Not sure why jenny durkan vetoed it….its revenue?

Lisa has become what we had HOPED to rid ourselves of. it doesn’t seem to matter where the council lives, they always write in little “but not city council members” rules to keep them from experiencing the pain.

When will West Seattle have a true champion. She has voted every tax increase on the books, we know she has used her power to block us from getting city services in our neighborhood.

    4. In 1985 Seattle, granted homeowners OWNERSHIP RIGHTS to the sidewalk with a built-in right of way for your neighbors and strangers to walk through.

If YOU do not maintain, YOU are liable for any injuries someone may have.

If you want to fix the sidewalk, you are required to get a permission via “Paying for a permit”. Lisa was overheard saying, “this is a GREAT idea! Just ask her.

Just a friendly did you know.

I received this call more than once recently. ALL the calls required me to push a button on my phone to be connected with a person. NEVER do that!! For many reasons; it just opens you up to more fraudulent calls. Simply hang up and ignore them.

We requested a junk-mail stop on the grocery flyers some time back so I don’t know if those are still being sent but we see our mail carrier most days. Today, a postcard promoting a City Council candidate, and a medical bill. We’re in the Westwood post office’s zone as well.
