buttercupParticipantI received a csll from this number 410-934-0142 claiming to be Social Security . I was told there will be legal action if I don’t pay money to them. Beware if this number appears on your phone. Social Security does not contact people this way.

Michael WaldoParticipantThis scam can use any phone number. The numbers are spoofed. They use different numbers depending on what your number is.

buttercupParticipantThe area code was from Baltimore MD so I called the police dept there. They are forwarding onto fraud dept.

rwParticipantJust tell them THEY are the ones who should be in jail and that they are a disgrace to their parents. They are vermin and need to know it.

FranciParticipantI received this call more than once recently. ALL the calls required me to push a button on my phone to be connected with a person. NEVER do that!! For many reasons; it just opens you up to more fraudulent calls. Simply hang up and ignore them.

buttercupParticipantFranco. Let them know you are reporting number to police . Ignore them they will continue to call, inform them they stop.

lindaParticipantI also received two of these scam calls, both went to voice mail. The first one claimed my SS# was going to be suspended due to fraudulent activity. The second one claimed my SS# had been suspended due to fraudulent activity. The scary part is the second call spoofed the actual Social Security Fraud hotline number on my phone for the incoming call. However, my voice mail showed a different number associated to the call. If you get these calls, report them to Social Security and the FTC at https://identitytheft.gov/ssa. This website was set up by the FTC to specifically deal with Social Security scams.
