My stupid lab is sweet and loves people. She’d help a burglar clean out my house. She does love kids. I also keep her leashed, genius.

I know that critical reading isn’t one of your skills, gxnx, but try to keep up. My point was that, in terms of problems on Alki, my dog is way safer and cleaner than people.

There are crappy dog owners, yes, though I believe that the vast majority of us are responsible owners who clean up after our dogs and keep them leashed, you just don’t notice them because we’re responsible. There are crappy people, too, and you’ll just have to come up with a way to live with them (or me if you wish). So, my advice for you is to suck it up, buttercup. Life ain’t fair and the rules aren’t written to suit you. Learn how to flex and pick your battles and you’ll have a better life.

Went the other night, and the menu is fairly decent – but they have removed the onion rings. REMOVED THE ONION RINGS…. I think they have been huffing too much grease over there. I don’t want to have to go to oastlineC or across town to the Med Rill place…

PLEASE BRING BACK THE ONION RINGS

“My dog doesn’t leave garbage strewn about. My dog doesn’t stab or shoot anyone. My dog doesn’t accost anyone. My dog is also always leashed, even when she’s swimming.”

Oh you forgot to mention, your dog is super friendly, loves kids and does not bite……….ha ha

I was attacked by a German Sheppard at LP near the gas station a couple years ago and the owner just took off.
There are owners letting their dogs run loose on the Solstice Park and when you walked into the open space, the dogs just chased you.
My neighbor let his dog loose at nite and I got videos to prove it. Poop in front of the lawn outside the house.
    Cats too!!

Encourage away, Skeeter. For my part, though, this isn’t “part of the problem”. The problem is more global. My problem is that when I change my behavior then the system changes. I lower my electricity usage so my rates go up. I limit my fuel usage through more efficient means of transportation or walking/cycling but I pay more and more in fuel taxes on what I do use. I call the cops but they don’t bother to show up. The list goes on…so, I take my dog to the little pocket beaches so she can enjoy the water, too. I don’t feel guilty about it. I don’t care what other people think about it. If you want to view it as a discourtesy that’s your problem. I’m not hurting anyone and my dog is cleaner than most people on the beach, even if she poops, since I clean it up immediately. My dog doesn’t leave garbage strewn about. My dog doesn’t stab or shoot anyone. My dog doesn’t accost anyone. My dog is also always leashed, even when she’s swimming.

So, I’ll keep doing what I do. If you don’t like it that’s fine. just don’t expect me to agree with you or care about your opinion if you chose to accost me.

Mark47n you are missing the point when you tell folks to find a new hobby or take valium. What we are saying is that off-leash dogs in parks which require a leash is against the law. Off-leash dogs on beaches is against the law. When people break the law – this law in particular- it bothers us and diminishes our ability to enjoy our parks. There is not much we can do to enforce the law, but you should be aware that your behavior makes people unhappy.
Do I break rules sometimes? Probably yes. If I my breaking a rule – either accidentally or on purpose – caused another person discomfort, I would want to be aware of it so that I could consider changing my behavior.

Interesting update from Texas re: fireworks. Here in Austin, they are illegal and it seems that pretty much, that is actually respected! I’m sure the city/state-wide constant concern of fire hazards has a lot to do with it, but I’ve also noticed a lot more active and retired military which may also play a part in it. Also, no pro sports team(s) seems to help with the civility all around. ;) I haven’t gone down the rabbit hole to truly investigate but on the 4th in North Austin (near The Domain for anyone who’s familiar with the area) all I heard were a couple kids in a nearby apartment complex shoot off maybe 4 “baby” bottle rockets. That was it. Driving back from downtown earlier in the evening, there weren’t any mortars popping off in the sky, I didn’t hear any firecrackers going off, it was like any other evening.

I’m curious to see, or I guess “hear”, what it’ll be like on NYE but seems like it’s just not an issue. I expected it to be a lot more like Alaska where neighbors would be competing with each other. I was happily wrong about that. lol

HSG – I’m alluding to early enlistment. Starts in November. I know this and I don’t have a kid.

Additionally there are a bunch of understudies who are as yet battling in those classes that you need to request significantly more from. Its the weight of having a shrewd youngster in government funded school – it requires some investment. In the event that you have an inclination that you are “squandering” 6 hours of educational time, converse with the guardians who are burning through cash on coaches and bunches of time each day helping their children keep afloat. It’s government funded school – while they can’t instruct to the most minimized shared variable, they additionally can’t heave the ball over the leaders of a huge level of understudies who are similarly as qualified for a “reasonable” training as the “savvy kids”.

No doubt. Suck it up. Everything takes work. Not to say that you aren’t placing in the work, however since there is by all accounts no good reason for these posts other than whining about your children instruction. You do understand that your PTA is the spot to complete this, correct? What do you need from the fine individuals on these discussions but to whine about how talented your kids are.

Here are a few assets that a portion of my kindred understudies and I used to enhance my training through state funded school:

    1) http://www.tavvy.com

    2) Kumon. Helped me keep afloat and after that some in math classes.

    3) http://www.tutor.com/schools/programs/propelled arrangement – You can get AP coaches to help your child where they may not be offered in your genuine school. They give you all that you have to step through the exams and get school credit/try out of things so you can get into Running Start significantly quicker! Have I stopped Running Start enough?

Pier 1 and property adjacent to Jack Block park is part of West Seattle.
Why hasn’t anyone came up with a development for this waterfront property?
Why not challenge our community leaders?
Doesn’t anyone see the future. What are we going to leave the next generation?

I can imagine several good uses for this area. A park, a transit center with tunnel to Admiral District and West Seattle High School. A place for kids to ride bikes in the dirt over the bumps. A mini dog park, a aquarium, Starbucks (not) A Solarium. A outdoor theater.
Turn that garbage dump into something………..
    Google Earth it please.
