West Seattle High School Care Package Donation Drive @ WSHS north entrance
Dec 6 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Again this year, our Teen Health Center closes during school winter break. When school is in session, the Teen Health Center provides free hygiene products to all of our students. When our Teen Health Center closes along with the school hours, students in need may experience a gap in these resources. As we did successfully last year, we are organizing another hygiene product, food, and clothing drive for West Seattle High School students. With the help of West Seattle families and students, our goal is to assemble even more care packages this year.

Care packages will include new toothbrushes, bars of soap, socks, granola bars, and hand sanitizer, for example. Last winter, we were able to go beyond just hygiene products and also accept donations of non-perishable foods and warm clothing from our contributors, helping us assemble a total of 80 care packages!

Details about the donation collecting events:

Here are the hygiene products we are looking for:
– unopened hand sanitizer
– unopened protein bars/granola bars/snacks
– packaged masks
– unopened bars of soap
– unopened feminine hygiene products
– unopened deodorant
– unused toothbrushes
– unopened toothpaste
– unopened chapstick
– hand warmers
– any other unopened hygiene products you’re willing to donate are welcome!

Food items in need:
– unopened snacks/protein bars/granola bars
– pasta
– any non-perishable canned foods

Clothing & other items in need (used):
– jackets, sweaters, pants
– backpacks
– socks
– blankets
– gloves, hats, scarves

Donation collecting events:
at WEST SEATTLE HIGH SCHOOL’S HISTORIC ENTRANCE (North side of West Seattle High School, facing Hiawatha)
3000 California Ave SW

– Tuesday, November 22nd 2022 from 3-5 pm
– Tuesday, November 29th 2022 from 3-5 pm
– Tuesday, December 6th 2022 from 3-5 pm

Student volunteers and I, many of which are part of our Teen Health Advisory Council, will then assemble care packages Friday, 12/9. Students in need at West Seattle High School can then pick them up during the week of 12/12-12/16, the week before winter break starts.
