We are hosting something that we think is pretty cool and would love to get the word out.

Tuesday December 10th 6:30 pm West Seattle Runner:
West Seattle Runner is hosting a Women’s Workshop. We will have 3 presenters focused on covering topics specific to the female runner.

Michelle Babb MS, RD, CD, is a registered dietitian who holds a Master’s degree in nutrition from Bastyr University. She provides clients with the tools they need to achieve optimal health through nutrition education, creative fitness, and emotional balance. We have asked Michelle to speak about nutrition as it pertains to hormones of the female athlete. https://eatplaybe.com/

Lina Sims, PT, DPT is passionate about women’s health and related pelvic floor conditions. Her interest in women’s health comes from her own pregnancies and postpartum experiences with her two children. Her focus is to guide patients using education, manual therapy, and movement, to help reach their individualized goals. Lina continues her specialty coursework through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Lina will be addressing pelvic health as it pertains to the female runner.

We will also have a book reading and signing. Maggie Mertens is a writer, journalist, and editor in Seattle. Her essays and reporting have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, NPR, Sports Illustrated, ESPNw, Glamour, and Creative Nonfiction, among others. Her first book Better Faster Farther: How Running Changed Everything We Know About Women (Algonquin Books, June 2024) is a national bestseller and received Starred Reviews from Kirkus, BookPage, and Booklist. Mertens is an experienced speaker and has made multiple media appearances on national and regional television, multiple NPR affiliates, and numerous podcasts. The book is wonderful. It reminds us how long women were kept out of our sport, and most importantly, we get to know the women pioneers that blazed the trail for us to do what we do today. maggiemertens.com

Tati, a Brooks Guru, will be here to offer individual bra fittings. We will raffle off a bra!

We also will provide snacks and beverages. You will have an opportunity for a Q&A where you can write your questions anonymously. Nothing is TMI!

We will also likely have some time to just chat and talk all things women that evening. Looking forward!

PLEASE RSVP AS SOON AS YOU KNOW, THAT WILL HELP US WITH BUYING FOOD AND DRINK AND ACTIVITY PLANNING. We prefer you RSVP here: heylo.group/the-west-seattle-runner-group But if you must, you can email: lori@westseattlerunner.com
