The West Seattle Community Orchestras host their winter concert “Celebrate”, on Friday December 12 at 7:30 pm.

The concert will be held at Chief Sealth International High School Auditorium. Dramatic, familiar, and well-loved, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor will be presented by the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kim Roy, with soloist Erik Flaten on piano. Erik was born and raised in Eastern Washington State and has been heard all across the northwest and beyond, in cities including Seattle, Portland, Tacoma, NYC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, and internationally in Prague. Erik has been a guest artist at Whitman College, Portland State University, The Kairos Chamber Music Lyceum, and the Gig-Harbor Peninsula Symphony Orchestra.

Concert-goers will also be immersed in an orchestral odyssey by the Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Gustav Holst’s, The Planets – Mars, Venus, and Jupiter, followed by the great holiday classic, “The Hallelujah Chorus.” The evening will feature the first concert performance by The WSCO Wind Symphony,
conducted by Anton Coleman. The ensemble started this Fall to accommodate many community wind and percussion musicians looking to experience a concert band setting. Favorite wind band repertoire including Flourish for Wind Band, a Sousa march, and “At Christmastime” are all included in the program.

The concert will open with WSCO Brass & Percussion Ensemble performing Copland’s thrilling Fanfare for the Common Man.

Doors to open at 7:00 PM; donations gratefully accepted. For more information on the West Seattle Community Orchestras visit www.WSCOrchestras.org.
