DESCRIPTION OF WSEA Classic Novels (and Movies) BOOK CLUB
We begin each time with a fun trivia quiz–the winner receives a prize !–which raises issues and themes of interest. After one hour or so of free-range discussion on the book, we turn to the future, and collectively propose titles and choose one to read. If people haven’t had a chance to read that month’s book, they can come around 4pm and get in on the next month’s choice.

George C. Wolfe, adapted from play by August Wilson; Clarice Lispector, Family Ties; Gabriel García Márquez, Love in the Time of Cholera; Nancy Mitford, The Pursuit of Love; Langston Hughes, Not Without Laughter; Bram Stoker, Dracula; Karolina Pavlova, A Double Life; Nikolai Gogol, The Night Before Christmas; Truman Capote, A Christmas Memory; Dylan Thomas, A Child’s Christmas in Wales.

Title to discuss: Bleak House, by Charles Dickens (1852-53). We will read the first half—up to and including Chapter 28, “The Ironmaster.”

Date / Time: Sundays once a month 3:00-4:30
