How To Write an Obituary (your own or someone else’s)
Register OnlineAs New York Times obit writer Margalit Fox says, “Obituaries have next to nothing to do with death and absolutely everything to do with life.” Death notices have been written to be shared for thousands of years. Obituaries have changed because our attitudes about death have changed. Now, humor is not out of place. For example, one man wrote of his father: “We have all done our best to enjoy/weather Robert’s antics up to this point, but he is God’s problem now.” Another obit mentioned the subject died with the request that his family work to get Congress to repeal Day Light Savings Time.
