Equity, Social Justice and the Political Uses of Horror
Screening of the Film “GET OUT” w/Post-film Panel DiscussionUnconscious bias? Micro-aggressions? Privilege System?
What does all that mean, exactly?
Just because you’re invited doesn’t mean you’re welcome…Get Out is a stinging criticism of white liberalism from Academy Award nominated director Jordan Peele, who doesn’t take aim at Neo-Nazis and other whites who angrily shout the n-word.
Instead, Peele looks at those who profess their lack of racism, but only do so if they can maintain their dominance over black people in the most insidious manner possible.
Participate in a post-film panel discussion of themes from this Oscar-nominated film featuring Marcus Green, journalist, playwright, and executive editor of the South Seattle Emerald; Diana Falchuk, manager for arts and racial equity at City of Seattle, Office of Arts and Culture; and Cecelia Hayes, equity social justice and engagement manager for King County.
