West Seattle Crime Watch: Busy early morning for police

Two incidents under way right now: Thanks to Brad and Brian for the tip about police at the Money Tree at 41st/Alaska; scanner traffic points to a search for an intruder. Police also are in the 29th/Thistle vicinity, with scanner traffic reporting a medic crew responding to assist with a report of an assault victim. 1 AM UPDATE: Fire truck L(adder)-11 is at the 41st/Alaska scene to help. 1:21 AM ADDITION: Still monitoring the scanner … now, somewhere on 45th SW, police have been called after three people broke a car window and took off running. Missed the block #. 1:36 AM UPDATE: Sounds like the 41st/Alaska intruder may be in custody; police were reported to be talking to him, and then searching to be sure no one else was in the building. 1:53 AM UPDATE: Now officers are checking out a report of shots heard in 19th/Thistle vicinity. RELEVANT SIDE NOTE: This month’s meeting of the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council is at 7 pm Tuesday night — different location — Denny Middle School (30th/Thistle; map).

still there…lots of lights but no movement as of yet. Looks like the guy won’t come out.

That’s what our tipster indicated, loudspeaker orders for the intruder to come out. We will seek formal followup on this tomorrow but sounds like it may have been one of those cases where someone broke in through the roof.

that would explain the several officers on top with guns and flashlights!

The real thieves at MoneyTree own the place.

Any news on the assault victim @ 29th and Thistle? The police were there for quite some time. Do we know if the assault happened on the street?

I am checking on the overnight incidents and will update when info’s available. We monitored the scanner till about 3 am and heard nothing beyond what was documented above … we’re often listening to the scanner at that hour but seldom are there so many notable WS incidents.

The guy dumb enough to try and rob the money tree was seen by a neighbor through her window on the roof. He was making lots of loud banging noises for about 20 minutes and then she called the police. They arrived, posted outside the Money Tree and secured the perimeter. They came into her home and looked out her window and saw the big hole he made. The officers posted outside the front saw the perp inside the building and then made efforts to coax him out at his own free will. He refused, hid in the ceiling tiles and was later removed after officers and dogs were sent in to retrieve him.

Sorry, comment time is over.
