The West Seattle Neighbors for Peace and Justice will be doing their usual Sunday afternoon vigil at West Seattle Junction this Sunday (April 14) at noon.

This Sunday, in honor of Tax Day, we’ll be adding a little something extra. We’ll be taking a “Penny Poll” to see where West Seattleites think their federal income tax dollars should be spent.

Everyone who stops by our booth will be given 10 pennies that they can use to cast their “votes.” There will be five different categories of government programs to vote for, and you can distribute your votes among them any way you choose.

We will also have leaflets showing what programs the federal government really DOES spend our money on, so you can compare Uncle Sam’s spending priorities with your own.

After we tally the vote, we will report back to the Blog on how West Seattle voted compared with other Seattle neighborhood peace groups.
