Six West Seattle Crime Watch reader reports to share, that have come in over the past several days. For starters, two reports of mailbox crime: Above, Gregg says six mailboxes at 22nd SW and SW 104th in Shorewood were broken into on Tuesday. “Two were the security locking type. Did not seem to stop the mail thief.” Also on Tuesday, in the 8400 block of 25th SW, Bill says, “Mailbox block was destroyed by a moron with a rock. They’ve been replaced and reported to postal police.”
Ahead, four car-prowl reports:
Meagan and Ryan report:
Last Monday night on 7/9 or Tuesday morning someone had entered our car’s sunroof that we had accidentally left open. Random items were missing: make-up, fishing supplies, our children’s savings bonds, pictures of family, and the keyless remote to our home alarm system. We live off of Admiral and 61st and this took place in our alley. Since the incident we have filed a police report and have had our security system reprogrammed. Would be interested to know if there have been any other incidents in this area. Keep an eye out!
From Margaret:
Just wanted to register on the blog that late Sunday eve at 4800 Block of Beach Dr someone got into my car, opened all the compartments (looking for change, valuables) and left the car door slightly opened (causing dead battery). Thought folks should know.
From Jim:
Just a note – (Tuesday) night our 2000 Honda Civic was broken into and they attempted to steal it up in Arbor Heights. Just found out they rifled thru it and also broke the ignition switch.
And from Eric, on Friday:
About 9:00 this morning I witnessed a silver suv, seemed like an early 2000’s Ford Explorer, slowly driving down the street stopping at cars to look in the window. Driver was a younger person in his twenties, dark hair with a pony tail. Not sure what ethnicity. Tried to get a picture but they sped off when I opened my front door. This was on the 3800 block of Belvidere, driver headed south on Belvidere. Called police immediately.
