Lee’s Produce in South Delridge mourns ‘heart and soul’ Nam Suk Nasatka, 1950-2025

Thanks for the tips and photo. Lee’s Produce Market, a South Delridge/White Center fixture for more than 40 years, is mourning its “heart and soul,” Nam Suk Nasatka. She died this past Monday at age 75. A Seattle Times magazine story from 2017 says she started working at Lee’s in 1983 and bought the business a decade later. As the photo shows, a memorial is set up at the market. That’s all we know so far; we will update with anything we find out about a service/gathering.

West Seattle is so Blessed to have a Vibrant South East Asian Community. Samway Market and Lees are amazing stores. Love the Exotic Fruits and hard to find produce.

Small point, but Korea is not South East Asian.

I love Lee’s.  It has helped me make ends meet since I moved into the neighborhood almost 20 years ago.

I am heart broken over the lose of this amazing woman! She was one of the unsung heroines of the community who provided affordable quality food for many. Having been a long time customer of many years I know she will be missed as a blessing to her patrons. May she rest in peace! My condolences to her family and employees. Grateful.

We called her Ms Lee, not knowing any better. She gave us so much. Lee’s Produce was considered a community partner with Puget Ridge Edible Park. When produce was expiring she let us pick it up for composting. A lot of chickens benefited too. Lots of meat farmers were given truck loads for their animals to save on feed. I don’t think she knew how valuable she was.

I am so sorry for the loss of  this hard working woman who has contributed so much to  our community. I always knew I could find reasonable prices for produce at Lee’s. While we never talked much, I always considered it a gift if I could get her to smile.

I’m just now learning of this very sad news. I haven’t been there for awhile but we go back nearly 40yrs. Quite an amazing person and business woman. Both she and her good husband and lovely daughters have been very integral and supportive of our community for decades, I hope it will continue to be so, they are truly loved by all! Iconic family businesses such as Lee’s are becoming very rare, 🙏💖🙏
