Thanks for the tip! After a reader told us about the road work on 44th SW between Alaska and Edmunds, we went over to check it out. A crew’s doing concrete pavement work and the street is partly closed right now.
That means a rerouting of buses; the C Line that would normally stop in this area is rerouted to 42nd/Alaska, according to a Metro alert.
And it will be partially closed again soon when SDOT has to replace the concrete panel in front of the “Road Closed” sign. That’s not going to magically heal itself, it will be the next one to finish breaking and tilting.Seriously, it’s not just the WSDOT, SDOT seems to do a half-a–ed job much of the time too. Enjoy the somewhat smooth 44th while you can.
C’mon people. Don’t park in the hardware store lot if you’re not a customer.
I’ve been riding my bike over those big cracks and the crumbling concrete pavement in this area for more than 25 years. I have every bump memorized. So glad to see the road get repaired. Now, there are about 1,000 more places to do along Beach Drive.
